I guess there's nothing we can do to help? Like help dig a fire line or something? :idontno: For those that have lived here for a long time, has that kind of help ever been asked for?

I just talked with the South Walton Fire Dept. They have a Public info number set up for this fire. You can call 850-892-8392 or 850-892-8394 for a recorded update.

I spoke with Green Room Surfer around 3pm and from where he described the fire's location, Big Country should not be affected, other than not having access to his house, due to 3280 being blocked. Rob and Darcy should be okay too. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

One other note is that earlier today, SWFD was patrolling Pt Washington keeping a close look out for any falling embers which could cause a problem. They said that they would continue to monitor the area by patrol.

There's now another huge fire between 79 and inlet beach. It evidently already crossed highway 98 and all eastwest traffic on 98 towards Panama City is being turned around. My girlfriend saw it and it was huge.

This is getting bad. There is black soot on my deck furniture and it is very smokey.

We are 2 streets East of the Wheel House in Seagrove Beach. Our pool is covered in ashes, and we can actually smell the smoke from our backyard.

Smiling JOe, Out of curiosity, did you hear a bomb drop early this am? Might be crazy, but fire #1 seems to have occurred at that time. Just a thought!

What is the cause? Are these in any way linked with the Pandora's fire?

We've had ash landing in our pool since about 4PM this afternoon. We are more or less behind the old Wheel House.

Dry conditions? :idontno: I don't think Pandora"s fire is related.

I'm no fire investigator, but my guess is Pandora's fire was due to not cleaning the hood exhaust ducts.

Who knows how the other two fires started? I could venture some guesses like cigarettes being thrown out of a car, or someone burning yard trash and it getting out of hand. We haven't had lightning spark it. I hear bombs go off so often that I couldn't tell you if I heard them yesterday or this morning, but I do know that if one went off around Black Creek, I would know about it from word of mouth of my friends who live up there.

I about wrecked my car when some jackA$$ in front of me on 30-A tossed a ciggie out the window. I pulled over and made sure it was out! This fire stuff is gonna worry me to death.

I don't blame ya one bit. I hope all the fires are contained soon! When anyone throws anything out the window I'm astounded. :pissed: It's littering folks. Not to mention catching something afire.

It is really smokey here and I can't stay out long before it irritates my throat. The smell is intense. Stay alert, friends.

I walke upstairs a little while ago, after leaving the windows and doors open all day, and my bedspread and floor was covered with ashes.

I called the number listed above for information around 4:00 yesterday. It is not recorded she was live! Very sweet lately and had fielded about 2,000 calls yesterday afternoon. She stated there were 4 fires in Walton County and at that time 2 were already put out and they were working on the other 2. She stated they did not know what had caused the fires. It was still under investigation.

She also stated that they were setting up a place for displaced family along with the Red Cross. If you know someone who has been displaced or needs help, I am sure you can call that number and find where to send them.

Channel 13 just reported that the Black Creek fire is about 85% contained. Didn't catch the PCB fire info.

I love listening to the local news people. The lady on ch 13 just reported that "no property was damaged in the Black Creek fire." 1,000 acres burned and no property was destroyed by the fire. Oops.

I think she meant that no homes were destroyed.

Hopefully, they can not only get these fires contained, but actually extinguish them.

If there is one piece of good news, dewpoints are supposed to go up later in the week, which should help prevent any new fires from starting.

For those who flick their cig butts out the window of their vehicle, please don't do it. If you must smoke in your car, put the cig out in your ashtray.

I'm glad you posted that. I heard her say it too and then thought I had misunderstood what she had said.

Channel 13 reported this am that they believe the Black Creek fire was started from lightning. It was very cloudy at our house Sunday but only sprinkled.

I heard the same thing this morning on the news about the lightening. They said it was from a lightening storm on Sunday
