The Walton County Tea Party Patriots are hosting a "Freedom Rally" on Saturday, April 17th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in DeFuniak Springs. The Rally will be located in front of Walton Cycles, on Hwy. 90 West (from 331 N, turn left onto Hwy 90 and Walton Cycles is about 3/4 mile on the right).
Bring your posters (no ugly language), flags, folding chairs and your Patriotic spirit as we gather to voice our concerns about the direction our country is heading. We will have several speakers talking about issues that are of great concern. Mike Hill, a candidate for State Senate, will be our guest speaker. We will also have "Open-Mike" time for anyone to express their concerns.
There will be a voter registration table to assist Walton Co. citizens. We will be handing out FREE Constitution booklets, FREE American Flags and FREE ICED TEA!
If you have questions about what the Tea Party Movement is all about or if you are concerned about the changes taking place in our country, please attend. Take the time to find out that we are average citizens, who are peacefully trying to return our country to its former ideals of Consitutional government, Christian values, smaller government, lower taxes and less government intrusion into our everyday lives.
WE ARE A NON-PARTISAN GROUP AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
Please go to our website at www.waltoncountypatriots.tcoinc.com for additional information about our organization.

I am just here to say not all racist are dumb, white folks--there are educated racist also..I think the current Teabag Party is economically well off, bright, Republican, AND racist. So lets quit the stereotyping folks..ok?

I think that's an inevitable side effect of our area of the country.I couldn't agree with you more. As I said previously, there are several factions to the Tea Party Movement but they are basically for the preservation and promotion of the five items I previously posted. (I am sure there are others but these are the ones I am interested in). The candidate that adheres and pursues them will get my vote, regardless of party affiliation. I don't expect most Democrats to meet those criteria. IMHO, religion for a lot of tea party affiliates is way down the list as far as election of our Congressional representatives is concerned.

Tea parties stir evangelicals' fears - Ben Smith - POLITICO.com
Um, no it doesn't.People involved are free to express that feeling, but the group as a whole should not make these central issues, IMHO. Andy, what's your take?

So lets quit the stereotyping folks..ok?You just stereotyped them and, as usual, you were at least partiallty in error. I can't, for the life of me, understand the racist aspect. I firmly believe nothing, for over 90% of the Tea Partiers, could be further from the truth and that 90% certainly includes me.

Bad Brew: What's Become of Tea Party Populism?
and, there are those who are making every effort to manipulate/use the anger of the people, to their own advantage. So, can the reasonable members rein in the fringe element and come to the table to work out something...
But there was something genuine about much of the initial Tea Party organizing. Citizens who were sincerely angry with their government were petitioning for the redress of grievances. I didn't have to agree with them on every issue to think they were contributing something to the process.I think this is a good summary of what is happening. There are those in the TP who are genuinely concerned about some issues as AndyA has said.

Tea Party Leader a Democrat?
Dale Robertson - Racist Sign - Tea Party Leader - N-Word | Mediaite
Call it the Tea Party version of the ?Whitey Tape,? if the ?Whitey Tape? really existed. Dale Robertson, self-proclaimed founder of the Tea Party movement, was quoted in today?s Washington Times denying he had ever ?seen any racial slurs? at Tea Party events. He was responding to the furor over nasty, sometimes violent reactions to the passage of health care reform.
There?s just one problem with Robertson?s claim: He was famously photographed at a Feb. 27, 2009 Tea Party event holding a sign that featured the n-word. (via FreakOutNation)
For a movement trying to shake accusations of racism, the Tea Partiers could not have found a worse spokesman. Not only did Robertson?s sign have the n-word written on it, he had also misspelled it. The image plays into the worst stereotypes about Tea Partiers.
Here?s Robertson?s full quote, in which he tries to deflect the blame onto the Democrats:
?These people could be anybody. I wouldn?t put it past the Democrats to plant somebody there,? Mr. Robertson said. ?They?re trying to label the tea party, but I?ve never seen any racial slurs.?

That wouldnt surprise me about the GOP. Ith appens on the left and right.
There's an image floating around from a previous tea party event with a mispelled slanderous sign. I'll search for it when I get home. He was identified and found to be sporting 3 Obama bumper stickers and a registered democrat. He later admitted he was hired to do it.
Found it for you AndrewG.......see above post ^^^^^^

Our country was founded by people who sought freedom OF religion - not freedom FROM religion. If you have read any history of our country's founding, you would have seen innumerable references to our Christian heritage. Just take a look at the monuments in Washington, DC and all of the references to Christianity incorporated in their construction. When the Constitution was being written, a citizen wanted to get a glimpse of George Washington and asked someone how he could distinguish Washington from the other members at the gathering of patriots, he was told to look for the man who kneels to pray to God.
Our country was founded on Christian principles, but we have always allowed others to worship as they wished. Now, we are at a crossroads where our freedom to worship as we desire is being threatened - if not downright outlawed. If ever there was a freedom to fight for, it is our freedom to worship God as we desire - just as every other religion is allowed to do.
By 1794 the Whiskey Rebellion had broken out into the open. Tax collectors who were sent to western Pensylvania were routinely threatened and tarred and feathered, making it impossible to collect the whiskey tax from that area. In June of that year, local officials ordered the arrest of the leaders of the whiskey tax resistors. However, all this did was incite the farmers of western Pennsylvania to more violence. A month later, in July, the commander of the local militia, James McFarlane was shot and killed by federal troops defending a besieged tax official named John Neville. This enraged the local anti-tax settlers who went on to burn down the buildings belonging to Neville as he was hustled to safety by the federal troops.
In reaction to this, President George Washington recruited a militia force in August, 1794 from the Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia. This force was derisively nicknamed the “Watermelon Army” by the western Pennsylvania whiskey tax rebels.
When negotiations between federal commissioners and the rebels failed, Washington himself put on his Revolutionary War uniform again and personally led the army of over 12,000 troops into Western Pennsylvania. This force easily put down the Whiskey Rebellion because the farmers, faced with such a large force and notable commander, quickly dispersed. Most of the prisoners that Washington’s army captured were later released due to lack of evidence. Two of the rebels were convicted of treason but were subsequently pardoned by Washington who perhaps did not want to leave bad feelings lingering from this greatest crises of his administration.
Me thinks that President Washington wouldn't have been a "fan" of the Tea Party...

After absorbing all the information on this thread it's common sense that any association with the Tea Party should be avoided under any circumstances.

Yeah...he's not even bright enough to achieve moron status, but in his defense regarding the mispelling, go find the picture. I'm not going to post it here due to content. I'll paste a link, and you can choose to look at it or not...

He spelled it right, but apparently, some people told him to change it. The word you see is intentionally misspelled because in his narrow mind he thought this was less offensive. It is pasted over the other spelling.
According to the Washington Independant, he was booted from that particular rally. After figuring out that it was really as bad as it seemed, he Photoshopped the picture to where it said in spraypaint fashion..." I WORK 4 U". It took people about 1/10th of a second to figure that out.
Now...I'm not a tea partier, but one would have to think that those people who are would be smarter than to condone that behavior, or does that one incident make everybody who is a tea partier a racist. Sounds like sure fire stereotyping to me.
Unfortunately, this idiot will never be able to get beyond this issue. He needs to disappear.

Actually, most of our Founding Fathers were thought to be Freemasons. Freemasonry is a not a religion but worship in which men of all religions may unite. Matter of fact, Freemasonry is in direct conflict with the biblical teachings of Christianity. Masons require one to believe in God to be a member, but the person is never required to say what god he believes in.
There's also not a single reference to religion in the Constitution with the exception of "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." A President does not even have to use the Bible during taking oath. It's a wholly secular document which strictly defines Federal powers and distribution amongst various branches.
So, I simply can not understand how your ability to practice Christianity is being hampered whatsoever. You didn't give any examples that would be unconstitutional to support your claim.
I do not take issue with American citizens rallying together for the betterment of our Nation if they have solutions to offer. I agree with some of the Conservative principles, like smaller government. But, if your religious ideals are indicative of most tea parties and exclusion outside of defining the rally as Christian, you lose credibility and lose potential supporters. Many religions share similar ideals as Christianity like respect for human life, dignity and acceptance.

This is about the time the Declaration of Independence suddenly becomes our governing document (according to some) due to the use of the word "Creator". I've tried to tell people that a governing document has to be amendable. In fact the DOI even says that changes to our method of governence should be made as necessary. The fact is, even if the Constitution had stated that we were a theocracy, I'm sure by now that would have been amended. The bottom line is that personal beliefs of our founders are immaterial to how we should be governed today.
SoWal Expert
I have found no evidence that someone practicing Christianity is hampered.
Just that they can't keep projecting their views on others and requiring others to conform to their religious tenets.

I was thinking the same thing. If this we're a liberal protest and a far right winger was purposely trying to subvert their cause they wouldn't be able to control themselves and resort to violence.
Interesting how the MSM didn't report the attack that the occured to the Palin supporter in LA. They broke her leg, left her and her boyfriend bloody. The double standard is pathetic.

Tea Party rallies are probably the most peaceful ever. All evidence points to the opposite of what the left is claiming. The best sign I saw read "it doesn't matter what this sign reads, we will still be labeled racists". So true, so very true.

I read about that. The police haven't established it was politically motivated, but it sure sounded like it from the descriptions of what happened. I can't believe people on the left would beat a man and break his girlfriend's leg over politics. I hope it's not the case because it sets a dangerous precedent.

On the positive side to this totally unproven tragedy, maybe this will cause Ms. Palin to stop and actually think about what hateful things she is saying--uh, oh-no that is really not possible.

Yes, intimidation by the left is the answer to Palin! If she speaks, break one of her supporters legs. Great idea AC!

Call me crazy, but when I see a woman in 3" heels lying on the ground near uneven pavement/a curb I don't assume it is a politically motivated hit.
Though sadly I don't doubt someone is dumb enough/has such a skewed perspective that they would resort to violence over this crap!
