Cornerstone Development Group, the developers of Kelly Plantation in Destin, are set to break ground on 4,000 acres behind Freeport High School, straddling both sides of the new 331 bypass.

The project will consist of homes, offices, and retail. It will not be as upscale as Kelly Plantation.

The 1st phase consists of 400-500 homes on 240 acres. Total buildout will be 20 years.

I'm assuming they have water and sewer installed.

I guess so - about 500 acres is in the city limits.

Not installed yet, but it will be. On Hwy 331, Freeport Plantation has paved roads, and it appears that sewer and water have been ran, but I understand that phase is being held up by something. I believe there are around 70 lots in there.

Goofer, Freeport Plantation is south of Owls Head and I think some of the property is adjacent.

With Owl's Head moving forward and nearing the close of the their Founders' Program, Hammock Bay pushing out their lots like fertile rabbits, as well as Riverwalk, Lagrange Landing, Windswept, and Canopies anyone know how Freeport Plantation plans on positioning themselves.

For your last question, my understanding is that Freeport Residential is headed by one of the guys who was once with or maybe still with the Plantation at Freeport, but that the two are completely separate, although they are in close proximity to one another.

I think the hold up with the Plantation at Freeport has been with the annexation into the city limits of Freeport.
