Funny ad

From an ad in the latest Sun for a new development called Quattuor, just east of Rosemary: "This contrasting new gated community will offer only four modern monastic residences each situated on a large lot."

Well, according to Merriam-Webster, "monastic" means: 1. of or relating to monasteries or to monks or nuns; 2. resembling (as in seclusion or ascetic simplicity) life in a monastery.

Think maybe they meant "majestic" instead? Or are we about to be invaded by a bunch of guys with Bibles and cassocks???

What about this definition?:

3.of, pertaining to, or characteristic of a secluded, dedicated, or austere manner of living.

(had to look up austere, too.) -- 4.without excess, luxury, or ease; simple; limited; severe: an austere life. 5.severely simple; without ornament: austere writing.

Hmm. Might be a little closer, but the ad talks about 3500 square feet, great rooms, and other things that don't sound austere. Guess I'll tell Shades to put monkfish on their menu...;-)

maybe they mean that the houses will not be furnished. :funn: You simply get blank walls, floors and ceilings.
