She'll be perty in any hairstyle.
Maybe she could start with long bangs, and then have them cut them shorter if she likes while her hair is dry at the salon.
Everyone has a certain level of hair shrinkage after it's been dried.

I hope the guys aren't reading this.

You're so right Mango....I had to learn this the hard way when I was probably about Sam's age! ( trimming bangs on myself:eek: )

Hop?! How do you know this?

i wondered the same thing :dunno:

See? that's the thing. Oh well, at least it won't take as long to grow them out to side slept or long bangs. Sam sort of has a roundish face. Don't let the dance pic scare you...it was for a recital. Normally I wouldn't let her out of the house like this. :) Yes, they are both Sam.

she's a beautiful girl ol !

here's the deal - i hate bangs, but only because when i had them my mom would "even them up" and what started over my eyes ended up looking like a rat chewed my hair off up to my forehead. it was torture and because of this i have never had bangs.

I love and appreciate all the advise! Y'all are the best. Of course I think she's beautiful too. I'm due for a change myself. Heck, I might go back to bangs. A big advantage for me would be that they would cover more wrinkles and creases! I'll post some "after" pics after the big event.

middle aged bags = poor man's botox

Ol, she is so pretty! Of course, I prefer the natural look! ;-) I hear your concern, bad haircuts can turn the most mild mannered teen into an emotional banshee!!! As you know, this will be a good test for her using her growing independence!!!

Michigan but someday in SoWal as well
I think the bangs would be cute on her and they do grow back. Sooo, I think she should enjoy the experiment. If she doesn't like them, at least they were her choice. And at least it's not multiple body piercings! She really is adorable...

Your daughter is so beautiful. I think the bangs will look great on her and they will grow if she changes her mind. Good luck.

OL, I will repeat what has already been said, Sam is gorgeous and will be able to carry off the bangs. Do you ever watch What Not To Wear? If so, you will notice that Nick (the hairdresser) cuts hair quite often with bangs. Of course you are right, they are a bi$ch to grow out if she doesn't like them, but for some reason on teenage girls they don't look bad in the process of growing out. Awww, the beauty of youth.

ktschris, leave it to you to use your skills on this thread! I love it.
OL, I have to say that when I went for my last haircut, my own hairdresser showed up that day with newly cut bangs herself. I didn't even recognize her at first! Sam's prettier than my hairdresser, though.

ktschris!!! ha! I love it! I was looking for my Cosmo makeover cd where you can try on different hairstyles and I couldn't find it. This is perfect. I'll have to show it to her! Thank you!

I like the no bangs look better but I know she's looking for something different....
