FOURTH OF JULY PARADE. The annual Grayton 4th of July parade is set and ready. The County
has approved the parade and we anticipate a large turnout. Please note, at the
recommendation of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, there is one major change. Line-up for
the parade will be in new Grayton, NOT on DeFuniak Street. Signs will direct parade
participants to follow Magnolia Street to Lupine and then
onto Pine Street where we will line-up. (See attached
maps). In addition to signs directing the line-up, there will
also be a sign designating the starting position of the
parade. The reason for the change is to keep DeFuniak
Street open and unobstructed for as long as possible.
Other than the line-up change ,the parade will commence
down the usual route – DeFuniak Street (past Chiringo), down Hotz (past Red Bar) – onto
Banfill, Lydia, DeFuniak Street and then to Magnolia Street into new Grayton back to the
starting point.
Date: Tuesday, July 4, 2023
Parade Line-up: 8:00 AM
Parade Start: 8:30 AM
HOTZ AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS. In the last few weeks, there has been a lot of activity on Hotz
Avenue. With your earlier permission, turf has been laid,
Adirondack chairs installed, and an oversized chess set
purchased for the area across the street from Chiringo.
Between Chirinos’s improvements, the Red
Bar's improvements, and our
Association's improvements, Hotz Avenue has been
transformed. It was fun to watch the reception as it
related to the chess set - within minutes families started playing - kids totally knew how to play
and the games have begun.
Hopefully, these improvements will influence the County as it moves forward with future
investments in Grayton and the ultimate design of Hotz Avenue. With the pending construction
of the restrooms and community center/history museum, we, as an association, can hopefully
continue to be a positive force in shaping downtown Grayton.
DUES. Dues for the Grayton Beach Neighborhood Association are $50/year. Please know that
this association and dues are completely voluntary. The dues are used for landscaping projects,
the free libraries, improving downtown, the 4th of July parade, the association picnics and
various other projects. If you would like to contribute, please mail dues to P.O. Box 2162,
Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
NEW SHUTTLE STATION. Walton County has embarked on the new shuttle station that will be
located in the large parking lot just north of Grayton and across from the Mystic Porte
retail/restaurant area. This station will anchor the Grayton shuttle and will also serve as a
central hub for an east west shuttle that will go to Blue Mountain and Gulf Place (to the west)
and the State Park, WaterColor and Seaside (to the east). The Grayton shuttle has done a
fantastic job of mitigating traffic and parking issues in our town. Once this station is completed,
the county will commence construction of the shuttle stop/restroom and community center
across from Chiringo.
