I am just curious if anyone has had any good experience with Rental Agencies on or near Beaches of South Walton?

Dogs showing up -

Renters showing up with more people than the unit holds-

Missing items -

Etc Etc........:bang:

I refrained from answering because I wasn't sure I understood your question "I am just curious if anyone has had any good experience with Rental Agencies on or near Beaches of South Walton?" I guess I just took it as a sarcastic comment based on your experiences with rental companies. If you had said "has anyone had any bad experiences......", I would have said yes....we've had a few bad experiences such as our rental company giving deep discounts without asking us first (including using our unit as a "prize" in an auction to some arrogant, high maintenance high-bidders), not checking the unit after guests leave to assess damage, etc., not overseeing the maid service to ensure that the place is thoroughly cleaned (to our horror, we found a kitchen waste basket filled with garbage in the pantry...no telling how long it had been there....yuk!), towels and sheets missing, etc.

To answer your question "has anyone had any good experience with Rental Agencies.....".....for the most part, our agency (which recently sold out to another agency) tries to do a decent job, though sometimes things unfortunately fall through the cracks. We've managed to go several months without a problem. My guess is that it's pretty much the same with any rental agency.

I have tried 3 different rental agencies in the area and I would gladly discuss them with you off line if you would like. There are some that are better than others, but I am still not sure they are worth the 25 - 30% commission fee they charge.

There have been several recent threads on this subject - check the 'search' function at the top of the page and I think you will find some useful information there.

We have found a great way to avoid "some" issues was to use our neighbor who is a full time resident and he really likes meeting the out of town guest.

Talk about some accountability with the renters - This guy is like the Local Sherrif.

We did not have a good experiance with a local rental agency and had grown tired of them poasting notes and plastic brochure holders in our home on how to make long distance calls for 5.4 cents a minute.

Best of luck.

Oh .....and those little plastic holders for the brochures were great gifts when you replace the phone ads with pics of the beach to give away to the renters.

What a great way to use what shows up at your rental house for something positive.
