Not so crafty Mom needs Halloween costumes and/or ideas for two year old and
8 month old. I know it's a ways off but I hate the store bought ones, so If I can't find hand-me-downs, I'll be forced to be crafty (NOT GOOD!)

not sure what type of stuff you like (or if they are boy or girl). a few suggestions is the all famous witch, dress in black or dark purple (dress, pants, tights, etc.) and by a wig or hat. fairy, pink and white and just buy the wings and wand, you can find them pretty cheap. for unisex, a monster, use face paint make the hair crazy and spikey, use old clothes to make them look all torn and creepy. also what i am soing this year is taking my girls to micheal's craft store and letting them pick out what ever accesories they want and dressing them to match, and maybe some face paint. you may want to try looking online for homemade costumes (not really homemade just some pretty neat ideas that dont really take anything to put together.) hope this helps.

costumes

I have a costume for the 8 month old, if shes a girl. Its just the dress for a swedish type dancer. Also, for my son one year, I made him a caveman... real easy: buy a couple yeards of animal print fabric and cut a whole in middle for head and drape over. Then secure around waist with an old rope. You can takes scrapes of it and cover his shoes, tie too with a rope. Get a little bat or stick or toy chew bone for them to carry or tie it to candy bag. Clowns are always great too, and you can use mismatched pants and shirts that you already have and your own make up. Good luck and have fun. Let me know if you want the girl dress.

www.onestepahead.com is a great place to look I've gotten my son his last two costumes from there. He is also two and this year we are going as a triceratops. Their costumes are really good quality and reasonable!
