Mermy, what the heck is cassis??? The cosmo sounds yummy!

The French Cosmo

1. 3 oz. pineapple juice
2. 1 1/2 oz. vodka
3. 1/2 oz. cassis
4. Garnish: pineapple slice or leaf
   Shake all the ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled stemmed glass. Garnish with pineapple slice or float a leaf from the fruit in the drink.

Cassis is a liquor made from blackcurrant berries. It's 20% alcohol, sweet and syrupy. It's from France, which is where I first tasted it. You can get it here but I think it's better to buy it at the source. Another really good use of cassis is to mix it with white wine to make a Kir, or even better--a Kir Royal (champagne instead of wine).
