2 Trek bikes were stolen Saturday night/early Sunday morning on No. Ryan St. in Summer's Edge/Seagrove.

One is a TREK Mountain Bike Black & Gray.

The other is a TREK 7.1 Gray.

Friends of ours are renting here & are just heartsick this morning....one of these bikes is their 12 year old sons....he worked and saved to buy that bike!!

Any ideas from anyone as to where they might look:dunno:? They have of course already reported to Walton County Sheriff. You guys are always so resourceful.

So mad & sad:pissed:....and not very comforting knowing we had a thief on our street during the night!

Thanks for any help!

Is it possible they were "borrowed" by other renters?

I believe anything is possible....hoping they might re-appear!

This family LOVES Seagrove so much. They vacation here about 4 times each year....and they have ultimately "recruited" so many others to frequently vacation here on 30A too!! This is really putting a HUGE damper on their trip. Let's hope someone returns them....but not likely!

That is so kind! Thank you!!

They are still just not believing this would happen here!
I am so protective of my bike, & bring into the house....or it is locked if elsewhere. We have some they can use, but they certainly aren't as nice as what they lost....hope the rest of their trip is better & will give them more GOOD memories than this one bad event!

You might want to call some of the local bike rental companies and "report" the bikes. If some kids "borrowed" the bikes some clueless parents might try to return them to a bike shop/rental place.

bikes stolen

We've had eight bikes stolen over the last couple of years. Some from right on our porch overnight in WC, some parked at Seaside, etc. Even if you're only gone for a minute, lock up your bike! (I learned that lesson after two bikes, but my kids/friends added to our total 'cause they weren't believers yet). I went to the sheriff's dept off 331 to look for my dad's that was stolen (according to my teenage son and friends, there were gone for five minutes), and you would not believe how many bikes they have there, plus they have two other storage areas for found bikes. You will need your serial number to claim a bike. Many bikes are stolen for "joy rides" and then ditched in the bushes. Good luck finding his. I'd recommend taking a look at the sheriff's bicycle grave yard.

ellen,

I have learned this lesson the hard way, too. My most recent visit to WC was an eye opener and made me a believer in bike locks. Rode one WC bike to Hot & Cold for lunch. Forgot I had ridden it and walked home. Next morning went to get it and poof...gone. The next trip to Hot & Cold was with Mr. K...went inside to order, came out and ate. Went to get on bike...poof, gone again! I now vow to use the bike lock that they provide.

LOCK UP YOUR BIKES!

Didn't you catch a bike thief in the act?

....

THANKS for this excellent info.....the sheriff told them about the serial numbers (which they aren't sure they have till they return home and check)....but I had no idea about the sheriff's bicycle graveyard....certainly sounds like it would be worth pursuing if they can find their serial numbers! THANKS AGAIN!
