Please help!We are in a rental and there is a huge rattlesnake that has come out from under the house. Needless to say I can't send the kids out to the pool. its pretty big and having problems going back under the house. Will animal control come get him? I do not have any #'s to call . If someone can give me a quick suggestion on removal I would be most grateful and could go back to making dinner and enjoying myself.

Animal control

I could not find any such number so I guess there is not one. I called the sheriff's dept. and they said they will send someone out. I hope it is quick!

Animal control only does dogs and cats.
There are huge rattle snakes here. I have dogs and I have to kill at least one a week.
Just take a shovel beat it in the head. The head is the most sensitve spot. Or take our your gun and shoot it.
Ok I know I am going to hear it from the people who do not believe in killing snakes. BUT if you have ever had to have a dog die from a snake bite you might see it differently.
Good Luck!
Oh by the way until I got brave enough to kill them myself, I would just call the neighbor!

I don't believe in brandishing guns out your truck window at snakes who are riding bicycles in compliance with the laws of the road.

However, if the clearly does not have the right of way, I support your decision to hit it on the head with a shovel if Kurt isn't available to mediate.

A nice man from the sheriiff's dept. came promptly and informed me he doesn't usually do snakes with a chuckle. It was definitely a rattlesnake about 5 - 5.5 ft. long. It obviously had just eaten. He was scooped up in the pool net and set on the other side of the fence. He was mad and I hope he decided to go on down the road. We could hear him for about 30 minutes. My boys have never seen one other than in the zoo.

I have seen and pictured so, so many snakes here since moving to Seagrove January 30th, but have yet to see a big Eastern Diamondback. In fact, I searched today. Wish I had gotten to this thread sooner. Glad no one was hurt, including the snake. But I would have at least transported the snake deep into the woods for you.
