From FDOT:
The intent of this project is to widen a two mile section of U.S. 98 from Mack Bayou Road to C.R. 30A West from four to six-lanes with five or six-foot sidewalks and a ten-foot shared-use path. Pedestrian features at the three existing traffic signals will be upgraded to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Bids for construction will be accepted in early 2021 with construction activities scheduled to begin spring 2021.
On the upside, this stretch of 98 was widened previously and the utilities and drainage have already been moved to allow the two additional lanes.
