I'm getting hungry for some special treats this holiday season. I went to a little party with my girfriends and loved the rosemary roasted cashews with brown sugar, an Ina Garten recipe, which I plan to make soon!

Also, my friend made a seriously delicious hot crab dip with cheese and I don't know what else but I need to find that recipe.

Someone prepared cream cheese mixed with Harry & David's Pepper Jelly and it was just heaven. Nothing says holiday like that simple dish.

Susan of 30A Eats just posted a cheese ball recipe on her fb by the Homesick Texan Food Blog. This one is a must try this holiday season:
Bacon-jalapeño cheese ball

Susan's website is chock full of gorgeous recipes, food articles and links to other food blogs. I'm still checking it out - so much good stuff.

I saw that cheese ball recipe on Homesick Texan, I may have to try it too. Had a little gathering last night and the girls brought some good stuff. Feta/cream cheese truffles, salsa shrimp, the traditional spinach dip in the Hawaiian bread bowl (which Maggie helped herself to...after us). I made a cheese ball, cranberry meatballs, peppermint cheesecake, chocolate strawberries and buttermilk pie. I'm whipped today, but will take advantage of the decent weather and make some candy.

Everyone in the family except hubby and my brother loves this old-school green bean casserole. No mushroom soup -- that's replaced with sour cream and cheese (one of my middle names).

Cheesy Green Bean Casserole

Mother made this dish every Christmas and Thanksgiving for years. She got the recipe from her next-door neighbor and friend. We like this so much that we always double it.

3 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 can French-fried onion
1 cup sour cream
2 (12 ounce) packages of frozen French-style green beans, cooked
1/2 pound grated Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup corn flake crumbs

Combine 2 tablespoons of butter with the flour; cook gently. Remove from heat; stir in seasonings and cream. Fold in beans. Place in a shallow 2-quart casserole dish. Cover with cheese. Melt remaining butter with corn flake crumbs in a small saucepan. Put crumbs and onion rings on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serves 8.
