Candidates are hard to come by no matter what the party. Who wants to subject their lives and their families lives to the scrutiny, the negative comments, the downright slander, the shady negative ads? And both parties on all levels of government are equally guilty. So we work with the hand we are dealt.

I would say that we could stop the madness by not voting for those who go negative and attack their opponent, but even more sad is the fact that such tactics definitely work. That is our fault.

in addition to that, we have people voting for the opposite party's worst candidate, hoping that they will lose against their supposed best candidate. The problem when people do this is that both parties get the worst candidates and America gets the worst elected officials.

Which is why I (and many others) are really warming to the idea of independents or a viable 3rd party.

So sick of political squabbling trumping the greater good.
