How to make last Minute Reservation in July?

I am very frustrated by my husband's unpredictable work/travel schedule this summer. In the past we have always made reservations for a house in Seagrove well in advance. We like to stay in the Grove by the Sea neighborhood. I need some opinions and or advice on being able to make summer rental reservations on short notice, 1-3 weeks. We are hoping to be down the 2nd or 3rd week of July. I just want to take my shoes off and walk through the sand.

July is tough - you will have to work this forum hard and also make contact with a lot of rental agents. You should be be able to do it but it won't be fun.

I think that rentals are way up this summer because our home in Seagrove has been totally booked for May-August since early April (that is, except for the weeks we've reserved).

Good news: $ to pay for our daughter's off-the-chart wedding in June.
Bad news: Can't be at the beach as often as we're accustomed to.

I have always had luck finding last minute rentals on VRBO, but we usually come in August and October. It sounds like July might be a little tougher. I would still check it out though. Good luck!

This is not a house and not in Seagrove, so this may be of not work for you. We have 2 condos at High Pointe (next door to Rosemary Beach - a pretty swell area ). High Pointe has 660' of private beach and only 108 condos so it never feels crowded.

At present these are the only 2 July weeks available:

Our Gulf View / Pool Front condo is available 07/24 - 31/2010 for $1,881

We have two gulf front condos available in Seagrove Beach, Beachside 6 & 9, both available in July. Both units are 2BR / 2BA with a Sleeper sofa. The Beachside complex is right across the street from Seagrove Plaza on 30-A (Bruno's Pizza, the best) and a 1.5 mile bike ride to Seaside. Bike rentals are also right across the street. It's a great location.

wow...beachside 9 was the first place our family stayed in Sowal; before that we had gone to Myrtle Beach...after that first trip, we never went back to SC
Seeing that condo brings back many wonderful memories...our children would have been 11 and 14 back then, now they're all grown up and married
our last trip included the sons-in-laws and our next trip will include a grandchild
For our family Sowal means fond memories
