I like Mike too. The Republicans would have been far better off with him as the nominee instead of McCain. He has been the frontrunner for 2012 in most pollsso maybe we will get another chance with him. Mitch Daniels, governor of Indiana is another good one.

It's hard not to like Mike. I disagree with him on many, many points, but I am confident that he truly believes in his opinions - he is not against gay marriage because it polls well.
His pragmatism appeals to me. I think that the party has a problem with him because he actually is a Christian, he doesn't just play one on TV - and will disagree with the party when he wants to.

You should watch some of his appearances on "The Daily Show"; this should have been a tough audience, and they loved him. Jon Stewart would say to the audience, "You realize this guy wants to amend the constitution to ban gay marriage, right?" and they would cheer for Huckabee.
He's very intelligent, very funny and actually thinks things through. That goes a long way with the "intellectuals" that you think are going to oppose him because he is "hard-core".
The problem will not be the people, it will be the money. The money that lines up behind the GOP hates Huckabee.
I disagree with him on many things too; but, at least he stands for what he believes and is not just "playing for TV". ..at least not as much as the others...besides, you gotta like someone who plays in a band--and can stay on a diet
I always like McCain too, until he turned into someone else-

What people don't want are rigid, uncaring, caricatures of christians. I think Huckabee is a real one, which is hard to find these days. I think people are ready for a real person who knows what he/she believes, is comfortable with those beliefs and is not looking to cram them down your throat.
I am afraid though that the comment that money will be his problem is exactly right. Those who supply the money do not want someone they cannot control and I don't think they can control Huckabee.
Did someone say he wants to change the Constitution regarding marriage? If true, how is that not cramming his beliefs down your throat?
As for the Daily Show audience, don't you think he is smart enough to stack the audience when negotiating terms with the producers of the show? Of course they would cheer him on. He may look like Gomer Pyle, but he's no dummy.

I am a secularist, and not really into Mike, but at least he seems to truly believe in what he is saying and is an intelligent, well spoken conservative. I wouldn't turn him off like I would Palin or McCain.
