Just finished yet another viewing of Secondhand Lions, and even though I've seen it several times, it always makes me feel good. I can never get through this scene without crying, but I love it. Packaged as a kid's movie, but I think the message is universal.

Like it alot too, especially the Lion part when she attacks that jerk. Sad but memorial moment.

Favorite to watch over and over is The Quiet Man with John Wayne.

I've never seen it, but it's now on my list. Thanks.

The lion mauling the guy is my favorite part - Scooterbug style justice! :D

And don't forget, the heroine lion is female!

Yes, it would be. At the end of the speech scene above, Walter pleads with Hub to do his best to grow old because Walter and Garth need him. Then Walter hugs Hub and Hub says "you're a good boy." It breaks my heart to think of how many children never hear those words. I was blessed with two outstanding parents who lavished affection on me and my sister. My husband and I do the same with our son. I firmly believe that if all children felt truly loved, the problems of the world would cease to exist. Just my 2 cents.

One of my brother's friends actually gave MY mother a mother's day card one year - because she paid more attention to him than his own mother!

He loved that both my parents chewed out for his lackluster grades/homework completion/trouble at school, stupid moves, and that he got a balanced meal at a table when he came over.

So weird to imagine having neglectful parents like that, but I know it is much more realistic/common than my happy nuclear family. :sosad:
