Okay, here goes. I haven't said anything...but I need any help you can offer.
Last September while trekking around New Orleans I sprained my ankle. I just kept going and going and going. It has never healed and now it swells and has a knot of some sort that has developed right under my ankle bone. It has grown over the past 6 weeks and now sticks out further then my ankle bone. By the end of the night I am in terrible pain....sometimes it stings (like pins and needles), other times pain shoots up both sides of my ankle toward my calf. I used to experience the pain just at night, but now it's painful during the day too!

I have seen a local doctor and he sent me for x-rays of my foot and ankle....but nothing seems to be showing up. Going up and down the stairs is misery...especially going down the stairs. Has anyone had a sports injury similar to this or ANYTHING that sounds like this. My blood pressure is excellent, blood tests fine, and so is everything else. :dunno: Maybe Dr. Skunky has some ideas.:dunno:

HELLLLLP! :sosad:

did you see a foot doc or an orthopedic doc? a good one should be able to diagnose.

My next move Tootsie...thank you ...I'm a bit scared!

What gets to me the most I think is the timing....I'm overwhelmed with things to do!!!!

I would definately get to another dr. Something is not right and someone should be able to help you or refer you to an orthopedic doc.

It is probably a cyst. An orthopaedist will drain it for you or may have to remove some of the tissue enclosing the thing in a minor office based procedure;you should find relief after that.

Thank you I feel better all ready. Sometimes it takes just telling someone to relieve a bit of the pain. I'm on it now to find an orthopedist. I've got a few doctors who can refer me, but if you know someone let me know. I heard there is a really good one in PCB.

Thanks so much for your input...I'm on it now. I was a bit worried because this bump, knot...whatever is so hard to the touch. I've missed two trips to The Big Easy because of so much walking. All of our decorations for the cafe came from big wholesalers there.

we have quite a few orthopedic doctors (MD) around these days. as well as podiatrists (DPM). personally, I would choose an orthopedic doctor for anything involving the foot - I've learned its quite a complex part of the body. but podiatrists specialize in the foot, so certainly there are good ones who could do the job too - I've met one podiatrist (in bham) who does very high level ankle surgeries and procedures. I know we have a podiatrist in sowal, and have heard good things about his work.

just get to a specialist soon! it should be a relatively easy fix.

I went to a podiatrist once for an ingrown infected toenail, and he walked in the room and he looked like that Wicked Magician from Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
I laughed histerically because all I could think of was the song........"Put one foot in front of the Other".

I stopped laughing when he came back in the room looking like the Burgermeister and a needle about a "foot" long.
