I think it is appalling that a Presidential candidate would select, and a political party would nominate, a Vice Presidential candidate who cannot discuss the most important economic issue to arise in years without totally bungling facts that a 5th grader should know. The recklessness of placing such a person "a heartbeat away" from the Oval Office should totally disqualify that presidential candidate from the consideration of any thinking person.:bang:

Think I am talking about McCain/Palin? Oh no my friends, it is Joe Biden who stated that when the '29 stock market crash occurred, FDR went on TV and told the American People what was going on. :yikes: If Palin had said such a thing the outcry could be heard in outer space.:bang:

Looks more and more like Obama messed up and should have chosen Hillary. At least she is not a moron.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

fdr, being governor of new york, should have called biden's dad and asked him what brand of tv he was watching, or maybe he should have emailed him.

Right here!
I try not to fault politicians when they say silly things without realizing it. I've put my foot in my mouth on occasion myself.

What frustrates me is the imbalance in the reporting on this stuff - can you imagine what would happen if Palin had made this statement? You'de see it as a front page headline on the NYT, Cambell Brown would ridicule her for three nights straight, it would land in a couple Saturday Night Live skits, and comics would have a field day with it.

If a tree falls in a forest filled with reporters, does it make a sound? It depends on the political affiliation of the tree. :D

I don't think the reporting is unfair - I watch less than 30 minutes of news coverage a night and have still seen clips of Biden w/ both the "FDR on TV" and the "they're not taking away our guns" nonsense.

Good point, I've been known to misspeak too. We can all laugh at Biden gaffes and the funny Bush-isms. The more you are out there in the public eye, the more likely you are to make a gaffe.

That may be one of Palins biggest problems. Since Palin was announced she's done what, 3 interviews? (ABC, Fox and Couric) In that same time Biden has done 89 interviews (Meet the Press, Washington Post etc) and held 4 news conferences. Sheltering Palin from the media is probably working against her now, when she says anything out of step it will be an even bigger deal with the news teams. Sad but true.

biden has a well deserved reputation for talking too much, and palin is building a reputation of speaking only to friendly media...it won't matter if she loses, but if she wins, you've got another gw scenario

Hey, what's the big deal. I was watching TV that night, FDR gave a rousing speech, I was inspired, or drunk, or stoned or..........................
