Alaqua Friend has announced a new program for dogs in its care called Unconditional Love Program.

Unconditional love is something all living souls crave. For some of us it’s found with family, for some in a spouse, and for some the journey is a long, crooked path. For those, finding it is all the sweeter, because the Alaqua’s Unconditional Love Project rescues unwanted dogs from neglect and abuse, uses prison labor to train them to be therapy dogs, and will offer them free of charge to agencies so that they can be used to benefit the wellbeing of a child.

Dogs who to do not graduate with top honors will be used for a variety of situations and can fill many roles: everything from a wonderfully trained basic family pet, to a nursing home dog, or for companion animals for the elderly or special needs individual.

The money donated to this program goes towards vetting the dogs, transportation costs, crates, food, toys and other program expenses.

Alaqua Animal Refuge, an independent, nonprofit organization located on Florida's Emerald Coast, advocates the general welfare and humane treatment of animals by providing shelter, prevention of pet overpopulation and adoption services. Alaqua, located on 10 acres in the town of Freeport, was formed by Walton County resident Laurie Hood in 2007 when she discovered that countless animals were being euthanized due to a lack of a no-kill shelter/adoption organization in the area.

Since that time, Alaqua Animal Refuge has helped find homes for more than 8,000 animals. Currently, up to 100 animals are adopted per month from this unique rescue facility, which serves as a true refuge for more than 250 animals at any given time.

The refuge is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. except Mondays. Animals currently up for adoption cab be viewed at www.AlaquaAnimalRefuge.org
Donation can be made online or by mail, or by calling the refuge at 850-880-6399.

I am Jules. Phew what a hectic two years it has been. First I had the cutest little babies you’ve ever seen. I know every mom says that, but they’re wrong, because mine really were the cutest babies ever. They were so cute they were adopted like that (I would snap but I don’t have any thumbs).
Once my babies were all adopted, I decided to look for a family, too. But, as I’m very particular, I was never able to find a family I really liked … Wouldn’t you be if you were this cute? I mean, look at how cute I am.
Finally, I was talking to James Earl Jones, and he told me about the Alaqua Unconditional Love program. It sounded perfect. My heart barely fits in my chest it’s so full of love, and with my babies all gone, I need to give it to someone.
Now I’m part of the Alaqua Unconditional Love program and I get to share all the love in my heart.
Jules needs your help to fill the heart of a child with the love that overflows from hers.
