Panama City Beach & St. Joe?s RiverCamps Community to Host
Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) Redfish Tour Championship
Two-Day Fishing Tournament Set for Nov. 7 ? 8 at RiverCamps on Crooked Creek
The Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) Redfish Tour returns to the St. Joe community of RiverCamps on Crooked Creek in Panama City Beach for its 2008 Championship, Nov. 7 ? 8, 2008. This is the third consecutive year RiverCamps has hosted this event.
The championship tournament marks the culmination of the 2008 Redfish Tour season when the winners from 18 tournaments gather for this catch-and-release event. The annual tournament series draws talented inshore anglers from Texas and throughout the Southeast to Panama City Beach where they will compete for prizes including a total tournament purse of over $77,000 including a first place prize of a fully-loaded Ranger Ghost boat valued at over $34,000.
?The Redfish Tour has held its Championships at RiverCamps for the past two years and we are pleased that the IFA is coming back to Panama City Beach,? stated Dan Rowe, president & CEO of the Panama City Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau. ?The coastal habitat which surrounds Crooked Creek and West Bay makes for the perfect setting and venue to host a tournament of this caliber.?
The IFA Redfish Tour Championship, held at RiverCamps, is open to the public and will be broadcast regionally on Fox Sports Network Florida and Fox Sports South.
?In addition to providing the perfect backdrop, the intracoastal waterways surrounding RiverCamps will challenge inshore anglers,? said Tom Dodson Vice President of Sales, West Florida for the St. Joe Company. ?We are enthusiastic about opening River Camps to the community for this exciting event, and look forward to another successful Redfish Championship.?
The two-day event is planned to include an array of entertainment for spectators, such as nature walks and eco-tours by the Audubon of Florida, complimentary kayak and canoe excursions on Crooked Creek, a boat show, community tours and an open houses, interactive exhibits by event sponsors, live music, football broadcast on a widescreen TV, games and children?s activities including youth fishing clinics and a bounce house.
A portion of the Redfish Tour Championship proceeds will benefit the Audubon of Florida with funds earmarked specifically to support the planned Audubon Center at West Bay.
