Return of Darth Visor!

http://www.gatorsports.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050901/GATORS01/209010327

Tonight, after a sabbatical from the college game that has lasted a couple of days shy of 44 months, he returns with a new team. Columbia is buzzing about the coach who once was the Gamecocks' nemesis.
Billboards scream, "We've Got Spurrier" and "This is Spurrier Country." A sign at Addam's Bookstore reads, "He was always kind of Cocky."

Booring. Guess we'll have to wait until Saturday.
What is LSU going to do? Are they scheduled to play?

LSU's football game versus North Texas, originally scheduled for this Saturday night, will be rescheduled due to the impact of Hurricane Katrina and the need for the LSU campus to participate in the recovery efforts, LSU announced Tuesday.

"The scope of this tragedy is becoming more evident as time passes, and LSU's focus is on assisting in the recovery effort of our state," said LSU chancellor Sean O'Keefe. "LSU is a primary evacuation site and we are not going to conduct any activities that could deter from our mission of assisting in the recovery mission."

"The events of yesterday and this morning have made it clear that this is not the time to play a football game," said LSU athletics director Skip Bertman. "This is a dire situation that rivals any in the history of our state, and our priorities are on participating in recovery efforts."

A number of locations on the LSU campus, and athletics facilities in particular, are being used in the recovery efforts for Hurricane Katrina. The Carl Maddox Field House is a Special Needs Shelter and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center has been designated as a triage unit for medical emergencies. The Bernie Moore Track will be utilized as a helicopter landing site for medical emergencies.

In addition, the traffic resulting from a football game could seriously impede the movement of emergency medical vehicles coming from the New Orleans area.

The PMAC has become a veritable MASH unit. It is being used to triage evacuees/refugees. Ambulances stretch for blocks, Apaches lining up to land on the javelein field at the track stadium, a number of babies being borne, many of the injured passing away.

We've had numerous incidents of evacuees attempting carjackings here in BR.

It is surreal.

Not the right place for this, but I know how tangents go...People that are normally very altruistic are becoming concerned that some of the evacuees that are being sent here will cause the same issues here...carjackings and other crimes out of desperation or just because they are THUGS! I am pleased that shelter has been provided and look at it as temporary solution. The responsible folks are enrolling their children in school and that is a good thing.
