Me too. I also love his "city of big shoulders"...

I love, love Chicago. Have never lived there--don't think I would survive a whole winter--but have visited many times for work and for fun.

For many years I had a client in Madison Wisconsin; each year they had an weeklong retreat for their CEOs from all around the country; I did media training for them; I would always time the end of my workshops for Thursday night; catch the last plane out for Chicago and spend the next three or four days just immersing myself in the city--beginning and ending with The Windows...they are one of my favorite things in all the world. I could sit there for hours (and I have) just drinking in the peace they exude...for me they are the definition of "work of art."

I don't think we've had this conversation before...but maybe. Are you from Chicago?

I am from Chicago , and I remember my mother taking me to see the windows when they were first installed and I was completely captivated... The last time I was there was in 2008, and I visited the Art Institute, and the windows were gone! I found a docent and asked where they were, almost in a panic... the museum had them removed during construction of the new modern wing so that the vibrations wouldn't damage them. I just looked online to see if they have been reinstalled yet, and check it out, they are reopening this weekend... all spiffed up too, they did some restoration work, can't wait to see them again!

The Art Institute of Chicago: Exhibitions:

It is a truly great city, and I've had the "I love Chicago" conversation with a few sowallers...

The Museum of Science and Industry is the only museum I checked out in Chicago but I took my son to see the Cubs and White Sox.

World Series starts tomorrow and the Cubs haven't been in over a hundred years.

Buz, next time, check out the Windows...and they are back after the new wing...the Art Institute is a real treasure.

yeah, I am on the mailing list and I got a notice just a few weeks ago about the return of the Windows. Their removal had put many people in a panic apparently. One day I will have to tell you my best story about getting over to spend time with the Windows...
