Something fun for everyone is happening in July at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. Check out the many great options to bring family and friends out for a delightfully good time!

Note:
-Outside tours cancel during severe weather.
-Breakfast with a Ranger, Americana Under the Stars and July 4th celebration do not require an entry fee into the park.

Every Thursday Night | Americana Under the Stars - 6 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
Starting at 6 p.m. in the amphitheater, Topsail presents an evening of music. Free admission into the park and a suggested donation of $5 goes to the Friends of Topsail Hill. Bring a chair, your favorite beverage and enjoy some music in the park. This is family/pet friendly and fun for all ages.

Thursday July 4 | 4th of July Celebration at Topsail Hill - 12:00 p.m.
Join us for an all day celebration of the 4th of July. There will be bands starting at noon in the amphitheater. The line up includes, Bridget Kelly, Lucky Mud, and Pierce Pettis. Admission into the park is free and a $5 donation is suggested; proceeds go to the Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and soft drinks will be available for purchase, or you can bring your own food or beverage. Remember fireworks are not allowed in the park and flashlights should have a red filter on the lens when used on the beach to prevent disturbance to nesting sea turtles.

Friday July 5 | Coastal Critters - 2:00 p.m.
This is a hands on program where you will learn what type of creatures can be found in this area. This program includes both sea and land critters, and is fun for all ages.

Wednesday July 10 | Campbell Lake Canoe Trip - 10:15 a.m.
Join us for a unique opportunity to paddle Campbell Lake. Located within the heart of Topsail Hill, Campbell Lake is the larger of the parks two coastal dune lakes. You will join the ranger as he leads you to various points around the lake and discusses what makes this lake, as well as the others so unique. No outside canoes or kayaks are allowed on the lake, so space is limited to 10 people for each trip. A signup sheet will be available in the ranger station from July 1 and will be on a first come first serve basis. Meet at tram stop one by 10:15 a.m. on July 10 to catch the tram to the lake.

Friday July 12 | Surf Fishing - 2:00 p.m.
Surf fishing is a popular sport along the beaches of Topsail Hill. This program will teach you what types of bait will work, what times of year certain fish can be caught and common fish you can catch from the beach. Fishing gear is optional, the park has fishing gear.This program will take place at the Beach Access, park in the day use parking area and catch the 2 p.m. tram to the beach. The program will take place once the 2 p.m. tram arrives at the beach.

Saturday July 13 | Breakfast with a Ranger - 9:00 a.m.
Join the Rangers of Topsail Hill to learn about the park, its history and to ask them all the questions you can think of about the park, its wildlife, and anything in between. This program is ideal for the whole family to enjoy. To cover the cost of food, please bring $5,which goes to Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park to enhance the park, or bring your own breakfast.

Friday July 19 | Endangered Species - 2:00 p.m.
At Topsail Hill we have several plants and animals that are protected because of their rarity. Lots of folks know about the endangered sea turtles and beach mice, but this program will teach you about some of the others as well. This program will also cover some of the management techniques that we use to ensure the protection of these rare beauties. This program will take place in the Clubhouse, after paying the park entry fee of $6, you can park in the day use area and walk the short path over to the clubhouse.

Friday July 26 | Exotics - 2:00 p.m.
Come learn about our non-native visitors. You may have some right in your own back yard. This program will teach you how to identify and get rid of plants that do not belong. Lots of time and money are spent on eradication of these plants. Find out how you can help.
