DTI,

Love your boat and your wonderful pictures of your little girl in it, these are memories we never lose no matter the price or time you spend on your boat.

DTI. It was too windy for me to get out today. Did you go out again? Didn't see any boats out this afternoon. Waves were kicking on the lake. My wonderful 90+ year old neighbor said the sand was really blasting on the beach.

No, it was way too windy. I learned my lesson yesterday, as my little electric trolling motor had issues on the lake proper with the wind as bad as it has been. I think tomorrow is supposed to be windy as well Looks like next weekend might be better!:D

Aw, come on, DL! The Weasel and I kayaked down to the Gulf yesterday--it was fabulous out! The wind was, indeed, a little windy once you got down there, though!

I can just imagine anyone living by the boat ramp and watching us try three million times to back it up properly. lol...

Lesson #1...Start with the trailer as straight to where you want to go as you can even if it means hauling it to Freeport to line it up!

Lesson #2...Put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. Which ever way you push the wheel from the bottom is the way the trailer will go.

Lesson #3...Make your corrections small and then stop them by adding in the same amount of wheel in the opposite direction.

You can do it!

This thread makes me smile. Some of my most cherished memories are of getting up way before dawn with my daddy and going fishing. He had a bass boat that he taught me how to back up and launch. It was usually just the two of us, so I learned early on how to back up a trailer. He eventually moved up to a pontoon boat, that I had learned to back up and launch as well. I miss those days.

Enjoy every minute of that time with your sweet little girl DTI, before long she will not want to "hang" with daddy. ;-) I sure wish I had hung with mine more instead of doing other things as I got older......

It was pretty funny watching this from the window. Next time I'll come out and say hi.

Next time it should only take me 20 or so tries to back it up! lol I think I forgot to mention that when I finally had it all lined up and ready to put in the water, Imy let me know she had to go to the bathroom! We had to pack it all up, drive home and use the bathroom and then come back and start from scratch!

Please do come say hi SWGB!

Ps. Thanks for the advice Singingchicken! I will try that next time. :D
