I know, I know, you caught me without my reusable bags the other day. Busted. I reloaded the car with all my cool bags and I'm ready for the guilt-free grocery trip.

JohnR is right- it just involves a little habit changing. I am pretty sure quitting smoking was much harder- surely I can quit plastic bags.

I normally use them for kitty litter, but I also have a whole stack of paper lunch bags- I bet I can use those for cleaning the cat box instead of the plastic.

I could have written your post word for word! Another one guilty as charged. I use the plastic bags for kitty litter. Thanks, Jenny, for suggesting biodegradable paper bags instead. That's a good idea.

I try to use my recyclable bags for shopping but I haven't trained myself to remember them all the time. I'll unload all the bags and leave them in the kitchen instead of putting them back in the car to use the next shopping trip. :bang: I'm going to have to work on this. I hate having all those plastic bags overflowing from the closet!

I have my Publix bags for the grocery, my cloth bag for the Farmer's Market, my leather bag for the library, and tote bags/purses for everything else.

And I still somehow end up with a TON of plastic bags under the sink!!!!

What's most troubling is packaging. Don't you hate it when you purchase something and the container is most of what you are buying? Example would be the organic lettuce at Walmart and Publix - every time you purchase it you have to buy the large plastic rectangular container that is not only a waste but adds to the cost.

Thanks for the video. What is wrong with us to let this happen??

Just returned from Canada and the stores charge .5 for each plastic bag you use. Believe this may help remind people to bring their bags to the store. It is amazing how much more Canadians recycle, glass bottles you return for $$, just like in the old days in dear old U S of A. A lesson to be learned I suppose.

Ugh! I know. I have several in both cars and can't tell you how many times I've run into the store in the last few weeks, in a crazy rush, forgetting my bags and not realizing it until I am checking out. If it's just been a few items, I tell the cashier that I don't need any bags and carry my groceries in my arms!

Wine, cream, coffee, cat food.......that all gets kinda' heavy in my arms......but, worth it.

P.S. Putting a 6 or 12 pack of plastic water bottles in the reusable bag is kind of like apologizing after pushing Mother Earth down the stairs.
