I don't know Lake Arrowhead specifically, but I think Cherokee County is supposed to be pretty. I know Cherokee County is just north of/is part of Metro Atlanta.

My old boss at the CDC lived there - it has a lot of smaller, older homes which people built when it was considered waaay, waaay far from Atlanta as "weekend cabins", but now since the Atl metro area goes pretty much all the way to Chattanooga, folks live there and commute. I am sure folks are building monsters there now - it used to be real cheap.

She (my old boss) loved it up there, had lots of animals and felt like she was in the woods.

The location looks great in that it's not far from the north side of Atlanta. Has anyone driven through the area????

About 12 years ago and it was very rural but pretty. good schools.

My brother and sister in law both fled Cherokee county about a year ago. They lived in Woodstock. It is sprawlville, a hellish commute into and out of Hotlanta. They moved there kind of early on and had a nice patch of woods behind the house with a nice wooded hill in the distance. Some developer clearcut the scenic hill and put a bunch of cookie cutter McMansions on it. What a view! Some folks might like it but they are far happier now that they live on the beach near Clearwater.

I wonder if that community might work as a weekend second home area.
