The 2013 OCEAN CONSERVANCY International Coastal Cleanup will be held September 21st.

Lake Powell Community Alliance
is partnering with St. Andrew Bay Resource Management Association and the Friends of Camp Helen to produce this event.

Lake Powell is the largest of Northwest Florida’s rare coastal dune lakes and is located predominantly in Bay County, with its western end at Camp Helen and into Inlet Beach in Walton County.

What to bring: closed toed shoes, hat, sunscreen, water and 'grabber' [if you wish]

8-9am SIGN-IN / 9-12 CLEANUP / Noon-2pm LUNCH & CHANCE DRAWING

In our little corner of this earth, we have a very unique and precious resource. LAKE POWELL was designated an Outstanding Florida Waterway in 1991. It is among the largest of the rare Coastal Dune Lakes which occur in only a few places around the world. The Lake Powell ecosystem is known for it's beauty and biodiversity, as well as, it's exceptional recreational and educational opportunities.

The
Lake Powell Community Alliance and the St.Andrew Bay Resource Management Association are two local organizations dedicated to protecting this natural resource. Together with the Friends of Camp Helen State Park, we invite you to join us in a community effort to “JOIN the TEAM/KEEP it CLEAN”. On Saturday,September 21[SUP]s[/SUP][SUP]t [/SUP]we will host the Ocean Conservancy International Coastal Cleanup.Sign-in begins at 8am at the Lake Powell Park [boat ramp] or at Camp Helen State Park. The Cleanup will last until noon. From 12-2pm at Lake Powell Park come visit with the LPCA, RMA, and other groups at their 'Eco-booths'. Learn about conservation efforts. And we will have a 'Chance Drawing' by donation and you may win some very nice prizes!

This is a great opportunity to bring our community together for a common cause!

We will provide: vinyl gloves, garbage bags, data cards, snack
What to bring: closed toed shoes, hat, sunscreen, water, 'grabber' work gloves
Feel free to bring your boat, canoe, kayak or paddle board and join the armada of cleanup crews!
Be sure to bring your required life jacket and whistle.

SCHEDULE
8:00- 9:00 am – Sign-in
9:00- 12 noon -- Lake Clean-up
12:00- 2 pm -- Lunch / Eco booths / Chance Drawing

ST.ANDREW BAY RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION conducts monthly water quality sampling with 9 stations on Lake Powell and 75 additional stations in Bay County through the
St.Andrew Bay Watch/Lakewatch Program [UF- IFAS Extension]. The RMA also coordinates Turtle Watch, Seagrass, Scallop and Shoreline Restoration Programs.

Join the Team / Keep it Clean
Ocean Conservancy International Coastal Cleanup is September 21, 2013, 8am-2pm, at Lake Powell Park (boat ramp) and Camp Helen State Park. The cleanup will last until noon followed by lunch by donation, eco-booths and raffle drawings at Lake Powell Park.

This event is hosted by Lake Powell Community Alliance, St Andrews Bay Resource Management Association and Friends of Camp Helen State Park. Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance and other local groups will be there.

Be sure to wear closed toed shoes, hat, sunscreen! Feel free to bring work gloves, grabber, boat, canoe, kayak, paddleboard, lifejacket and whistle.
