Let's choose a mascot for Ole Miss

Ole Miss students vote to find new mascot - CFB News - FOX Sports on MSN

University of Mississippi students voted Tuesday to start looking for a mascot to fill the void left by Colonel Reb.

The old Southern gent with a cane and floppy hat was booted as the on-field mascot in 2003 as the school continued its move away from Old South symbols. Since then, the teams have been without an on-field mascot.

Since I am avid Miss State fan and have been taught to hate Ole Miss I would suggest something from another post today, The Crop Dusters.

So what is the deal? They will no longer be 'the rebels' or they simply need to find a more PC outfit for someone to dress up in?

They need to be careful, little Nicholls State in Thibodaux went all PC last year and ditched their lovable old 'Colonel' (based on Col. Francis T. Nicholls) and updated the look with this gem. I think the idea was to make the 'Colonel' less Old South and more modern-he now looks like a Soviet or Nazi propaganda guy:funn:

They will still be the Rebels, the administration made them get rid of the Col Reb mascot, they are in the process of naming a new mascot.
