"Local Hero" Timely Movie

I really want to ask you to watch the movie Local Hero. I saw it when it first came out in the 80's and I just watched it again. This time, it really hit home.

Great movie. I've seen it three times over the years. The soundtrack by Mark Knopfler is one of my favorite albums. The director, Bill Forsyth, did a few other really good movies. Comfort and Joy and That Sinking Feeling. Check them out if you want a laugh.

Yes, wonderful music!! I'll have to check out the movies you posted.

Funny thing, when Local Hero first came out my husband and I both worked for an OIL CO in Houston! I remember his boss saying "If you want to know what's wrong with the oil industry go watch this Local Hero movie." Of course we were on the side of the "local hero" so we had different takes on the outcome of the movie. Burt Lancaster was fab. And Peter Riegert - from Animal House - was super as Mac. I just loved it.

Wow, amazing to see my *very favorite movie of all time* get its due!
Too bad it had to be an oil spill to bring Local Hero its recognition.
I have loved this film ever since I first saw it in the theater. Knopfler's soundtrack is indeed exquisite.
Forsythe was quirky before Wes Anderson got out of kindergarten, and made fun of life coaches before the term existed. (Desso, there is also the movie Gregory's Girl.)
Above all, Local Hero valued the environment over profit.

We visited some of the locations where it was filmed. They were not all in one place, but they certainly were beautiful.
