Anyone know where I can pick up some locally made honey? This pollen is kicking me in the rear and local honey seems to be the best way for me to kick back...helps with the allergy situation.

Thanks in advance...

Farmer's Market tomorrow morning- wonderful honey. See the Farmer's Market thread. My family loves the bay leaf honey.

Thx. I'll check out the thread, but for the sake of quickness, where is the farmer's market held?

Seaside, every Saturday morning. You are new in town- it is the best place to meet locals. In a few months you think you will be able to slide by and pick up a tomato, and the next thing you know you have been there visiting for 3 hours.

For The Health Pd It in Blue Mountain Beach also. The Barretts have been collecting and sistributing golden goodness for decades.

( "sistributing" ? Has Kurt been hitting the sauce again lately, or is it a case of Blackberry butterfingers?)

I too have pollen allergies, but thankfully none so far this year. What's out right now is the pine pollen and most people aren't allergic to pine pollen, including myself. When the oaks and wild flowers start up, look out!

The more local the honey to where you live and play, the better it will help you defend yourself. (bad idea to wait for the pollens to hit, because the honey will just "bee" adding more pollens to your system. Best to take in the off-pollen season.) I think the Barrett Honey (For the Health of It) comes from bees in South Walton. From what I've seen at the SS Farmers Market and other area fruit/veg stands, the next closest honey is made in Defuniak, then maybe WeWah. We have similar, but some different plants here than they have there, so if you live in South Walton, I'd first recommend Barrett's Honey.

I will also note that I've seen some labels on "local" honey that says the distributor is local to Florida, but the honey is coming from out of state.

One way of using the honey daily which I found tasty is to use it as sugar replacement in your coffee. YUM!

Thx for the info. I am trying to get a head start on the flowering plants. Since we have only been living here since January, I really didn't think about it until the Pine Pollen started falling.

So, where do I find this Barrett's honey?

Thx again.

For the Health of it in BMB has local honey, also ( I am pretty sure) Grayton General Store has some.
