If you don't mind the occasional rising water levels, I'm sure that you can find some empty homes which might be available to rent at Driftwood Estates (located all the way at the end of Mack Bayou Road. Most of the homes are three bedrooms and 2 baths, and are spacious, but note that the roads do occasionally flood, as do some of the unbuilt lots.

If you are interested in an apartment I know someone who has a unit available in Point of View. It's about as close as you can get, right behind GB Publix. I think it's a 2 BdRm, with some "upgrades." The owners also have some short term rentals that they manage themselves and list through their own website http://beachoasis.com/ the LTR isn't shown there but you can get the contact info.
