I have buried too many beloved pets in my garden, to be forever home. On one very sad occasion, it was a cat. He had a very nice funeral, then I went to the house and took a nap. Later that day, the very same cat that had such a lovely funeral walked around the house and meowed! I had buried the wrong cat!

So very sorry for your loss. Your tribute to Miss Smoothie was beautiful, as was she. Sending many prayers and heartfelt thoughts your way.

Again, we want to thank you all so much for all of your kind and thoughtful words. It has truly been heartwarming to receive so much love -- much of it from people that never even had the opportunity to meet Smoothie or the 2bohemians.

But we would be remiss if we left out Dr. Amy Williams & her staff at Kindness Pet Hospital -- for knowing just what to say at the right time to say it and for the genuine love and compassion they showed to all of us. When we looked up the definition of Kindness on the web, it said:

  • the quality of being warmhearted and considerate and humane and sympathetic
This couldn't be a better description! Their care certainly lives up to its name.

We would also like to give a shout out to Ed & Rachel at For The Health of It in Blue Mountain Beach. You can't ask for better people than the two of them! They were there for all 3 of us when we needed them most.

And to Dr Jason Marquardt at Parkway Animal Hospital in Niceville --- for giving Smoothie back her super legs after torn acl injuries in both legs.

And to Dr. Margaret Fowler, for the wonderful acupuncture treatments that helped Smoothie find her "zen".

We are very blessed to have such wonderful souls in SoWal!

Thanks to all of you from all of us!

My beloved Lab Nemo left this world when I was still a child and still I miss him every day. We wandered, adventured and ran together through the forest. He protected me from harm, rolled with me in the damp cool moss and swam with me in the cold streams. I can still see him bounding down the mountain path chasing my sled in the snow. While I have loved others none could ever take his place. I hope that all of you know such love at least for a brief time. Life is so fleeting and we are all just passing through to the other side. She was a beautiful creature your friend and I pray she has a safe journey home.

Girls, I'm so sorry I missed this thread earlier. Your tribute to your beloved Smoothie was so right; dogs are all about unconditional love. And no doubt she had it returned to her in abundance. My heart aches for you in your loss. Peace.
