I have to order a ton of mardi gras party things: beads, center pieces, masks, etc. Does anyone have a good source?? I've looked online but there are so many.

Also, I'm open to ideas of how to make a mardi gras event successful. I volunteered at my church to take on this event for Mardi Gras Sunday and now I need a little advice.

So far, I'm having the sunday school kids decorate masks. Then they will parade thru fellowship hall during the coffee hour. There will be beads of course. I'm ordering a couple of king cakes. I'm in touch with a local jazz band for some music off to the side. What else am I missing? I seem to remember moon pies at MG.

Thanks!

When I was in grammar school in nola we used to make shoebox floats and parade around the school yard. It was so much fun. You take a shoebox, take off the top, turn it upside down and place the bottom into the top to make it look like a float. Then you can decorate any way you please. You can also put wheels on it. You connect a string so that you can pull it behind you. Of course, we always used barbies, g.i. joes, etc. Best float gets a prize.

Mardigrasworld.com - more authentic since in NOLA.
orientaltrading.com - really cheap party stuff for all seasons, including Mad Grass.

King cake - http://www.gambinos.com.
Order some Mardi Gras music - just Google.

Don't forget the doubloons!

If you are serving food, red beans and rice are cheap. Order andouille friom kpauls.com.

Laissez les nons temps rouler!
