By now you've all been to this fabulous place...so you know how good the food is and how incredible the service is..(isn't it great to FINALLY have a really nice place around here that has figured out what hopsitality is about? We've waited so long...) Anyway, what I bet you didn't know is that they are doing one of those "holiday gift card promotions" where you buy $100 bucks worth and you get $25 free! Think of it...you can stuff all your Christmas listers' stockings with them, they'll have to come visit so they can use the gift cards and you get to keep the extra cards for yourself so you can go and eat at Mitchell's all the time! (Somehow, I think they knew we locals would think of this...hmmm...) Anyway, how can you lose? Hey, Mitchell! Whoever you are, you owe me for this plug!!

Sounds like a stroll down 30-A would help out your perspective, their are plenty of Really Nice Places that have wonderful hospitality. Give them a try, I do every time I am in town.

I wanted seafood the other night... so a friend said let's go to Mitchell's.
The service was not bad, but I could tell the waiter didn't have much experience. I didn't really care though. He was fine. What I did care about was the food. The calamari, too salty...
my daughters fish and chips were awful... it was as if it were undercooked. I couldn't peg what the problem was...
My friends Blackend scallops were too salty (she scraped off the seasoning)...
the rice on her plate was "awful" according to her... but she loved the beans...
and my meal was just okay.
I just think it was some sort of karma issue... I was suppose to frequent a locally owned place when I spend money... I made the wrong call. Sorry to give you the bad news.

Um, no. The only foodservice establishment I've been to in grand blvd is quizno's, and based on the reviews that are currently floating around about the new restaurants up there, it looks like it will stay that way for a while. I can and do currently get great food and service on 30A, provided by my neighbors.

I usually keep quiet on restaurant reviews, but here's my 2 cents. We stopped in here on the way back from VPS one Thursday evening. Very crowded, but we were seated right away. Service was so so. The memory I will take with me is the weirdest broiled red snapper I have ever had. So laden with paprika, that I had to scape it off...fish was very average.

IMO, Mitchell's is another Bonefish, but maybe a little higher priced. I've been there about four times and each was less satisfying than the previous.

BTW, Mitchell's chain was recently purchased by Ruth's Chris.

We had planned to go there today, and made it as far as the host stand.

It smelled overly fishy. And not in the way in a fish market is supposed to smell. It was more of a 'someone dropped a salmon in the entryway and left it there overnight' kind of smell.

Told the host that the fishy smell made us uncomfortable eating there, and turned around at walked out. It seems like the resto has problems, and I hope they can turn it around and return to its initial quality, which by the accounts I've heard was good.

We ended up at Kenny D's instead and had a pleasant meal. I know people have mixed feelings about the place, but Miss Gracie takes good care of us whenever when we're in there.
