Had lunch at Shorty's yesterday and noticed a very large building going on the beach next to Red Bar. Looks like one of those "Monster Homes" of yesteryear but I thought those were banned in Grayton? Is this true and if so how did it get approved? Blocks out view of the water.

Monster Houses in Grayton have been trending since 1995, after Opal. There's just been a lull cuz the economy collapsed ...

There was an ordinance passed for Grayton after the first wave of monster houses. It limited size based on parking a bit which made the max size a little less monster.

Neat fact - a lot of the first cottages in Grayton were workers' homes moved from the old saw mill at Point Washington after the mill closed.

Several small cottages were blown off their foundations by Opal, but remained virtually intact. They were sort of nestled together. Some were put back in place. Some were replaced by bigger houses.
