Georgia

Ranked number one preseason. During the summer, Moreno and Stafford sucked up more glossy newsprint than Brad and Angie. Expectations in Athens had never been higher. Then came the September 27th game against Alabama, Saturday night, ABC, blackout, between the hedges.

It may turn out to be the last blackout between the hedges. Alabama was ahead 93-0 midway through the first quarter. I don't recall a home crowd being so pumped up for a game, and then so deflated, so fast.

November 1st against Florida came a chance at redemption. That ended on the second play of the game as Brandon Spikes pancaked Moreno to the ground and told him nose to nose what he thought about his mother. They should have drawn a chalkline around Knowshon - and the Dawg's season - after that hit.

Season ended on a complete downer, giving up 45 points at home to Georgia Tech.

Hey, at least Richt kept his job.

LSU

Reigning National Champs were ranked number seven pre season. Got absolutely walloped by Florida and Georgia, then closed with embarrassing losses to Ole Miss and Arkansas. Almost lost at home to Troy.

Guess Les Miles is just a .500 season away from getting canned.

Auburn

Tigers were ranked 10th preseason, chock full of returning seniors and excited about their new spread offense. It didn't quite work out. They couldn't score two touchdowns in a game even if they were on the field by themselves.

Bye, bye, Tubbs. Some lucky team is going to get a really good coach.

Tennessee

At this point I guess it's getting kind of obvious which conference was the most overrated. (Hint. It's not the Big 12.)

Hard to believe these guys were ranked 18th preseason. Lost to UCLA. Lost to Wyoming. Lost Fulmer. Nuff said. Think Walter Berry wishes he was playing elsewhere? Can he play quarterback?

That's Eric Berry, not Walter Berry. You don't know your players too well.

I do love when people pick on the SEC!! I know my Buckeyes crash and burn at the bowl games, but love some good complaining about the SEC, makes me feel sooooo much better!! Love living in Florida, but so not a SEC fan!!!! The best one was when LSU fell out of the top 25. I was actually rooting for Alabama against Florida!

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Of course the one year Alabama beats all 4 of these teams and it doesn't mean anything. Oh well, still a perfect regular season and a happy Whitey.

I love Auburn with my heart and soul. I hate that Tubs got fired, and most all of my friends feel the same way. He was a great coach and he had a bad season. Don't let the "resigned" crap fool you either, he was let go. I don't think you could name 5 coaches that are as honest, graduate students at such a high rate, and keep their players out of trouble off the field like Tubs did. Players left with good degrees, and had his example of how men should conduct themselves. I will support our new coach, but I am so disappointed in Auburn's high ups right now. Bad move.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you will be seeing Tubs coaching anywhere else. At least that is the word right now. He has had health problems for a few years now and says he looks forward to settling down in Auburn for good. Time will tell.

What do you mean it does not mean anything? You had an unexpected early success, and went to the SEC Championship. As far as I am concerned that was the National Champ game. It was a very good year for Bammers

Wouldn't that make Florida, Alabama and Ole Miss the most underated teams?

I'm betting Ohio state gets throttled again in the bowl along with Penn state
making the big 10-11 feel little.

Speaking of LSU their preseason ranking was respect due to the 5 previous seasons.

Oh, I am not complaining at all. I am so thrilled with this early success! I think Saban is a terrific coach. The players have a completely renewed attitude which has really shown through in their leadership. You really DO get what you pay for.

Beating those four teams means something, of course.

Let's look back shall we:

How Whitey felt during the 2008 Alabama Season against overrated opponents

Beating Clemson...No one saw this coming! I was flabbergasted. Now, not so much.
Happy Scale- 9

Beating Georgia between the hedges...The Black Out really came back to bite UGA. We looked amazing (the first half). Julio had a great game.
Happy Scale- 9

Beating Tennessee and living in Tennessee...Priceless! A lot of disappointed orange shirts at the bar.
Happy Scale- 8

Beating LSU in the Bayou...my heart stopped this game. Literally.
Happy Scale- 10

Beating Aubs....I love winning and everything but I got bored this game.
Happy Scale- 7
