We are trying to find a vacation rental that meets the following criteria:

7 bedrooms
Around 6000 sqft
Gulf Front
Gulf Front pool
Preferably all bedrooms in main house (versus a carriage house)

We have 4 families with kids and are having a difficult time finding what we need. I appreciate your help!

:welcome:

There are quite a few options - check http://www.sowal.com/rentals.html
Look at the bedroom column and then check to see if it's gulf front.

If you are willing to rent gulf view you will have a lot more oprions.

There are also a lot of condo options if you want to rent a couple in the same building.

What date are you looking for? 2007 or 2008?

Most of the homes with your requirements book 1 year in advance.

I'm not gonna lie. Being in one house with that many people is not my idea of a vacation.:yikes: I think I'd rather be at work.

Have you considered renting several adjacent properties? I know that with my friends or family, we wouldn't be speaking by the end of the week if we were in one house. Heck, there would either be a divorce or somebody would be in the hospital with chest pains. The exception might be if we hired someone to do the meals for us. That's always the big bugaboo with that many people having different tastes and different eating schedules. My best friends used to do this every summer with their family; one summer when the kids got a little older they almost killed each other, so that was the last time they did it.

Good luck!

Oh, duh, I didn't catch the name. :welcome:

I'm half Texan - Mom was born in Canton, her family ended up in Tyler, and my sister lives in Dallas.

I personally don't know a house that big that's beachfront with a private pool, but I'm sure there must be. You're wise to start looking early.

It's not that bad BR! We did this a few years ago with Mr OL's side of the family. The first night we were all assigned a night of the week to plan and cook a meal. Then someone did all the shopping and we all split the bill. Breakfast and lunch we were on our own and dinner was around 6-7 every night. It worked out quite well. Personally I like being able to do what I want when I want but for a once in a while thing it worked out grayt. It ended up being the last time the family was all together since Mr OL's dad passed away just a few months later. We have really good memories of that trip. It helps if it's family and if you know each other and get along well. Now if it was my family....not so sure.

Good luck on finding a place Tx2Fl!

Even though my sister and I own homes in Seagrove a couple of hundred yards apart, we haven't had the entire family together at the beach since the summer of 2003. Just couldn't seem to get our schedules to coincide. It used to work out pretty well with the two houses -- sister, brother, and their families would stay at my sister's house (they all have boys that are close enough in age to enjoy similar things); Mom, Beach Jacket and her boyfriend would stay at our house. We had no clue Mom's Alz would bring her down so fast; would have liked one more time with her and my entire family at the beach, but now she's not physically or mentally able.

Anyhow, glad it works out for you. Enjoy it while you can - as the kids get older, it gets harder ... that is, until the kids have kids (so I hear from friends who have grandchildren), and then the circle of life continues.

I would check out this NEW rental in the gated community - Sandy Shores -
www.Reunionhouse.org

Location Seacrest Beach, a few minutes from Rosemary Beach -
It has 8 bedrooms/7 bathrooms, Sleeps 29 with private heated pool and
ocean views.

A local designer decorated it in her signature style and it is awesome!
Moon Creek has a Virtual Tour on the SoWal board under rentals.
This would be a great accommodation for a family Reunion!!!!!!!

Best of Luck!
