BR has already given me an award winning chili recipe so I am now looking to win an Apple Pie contest. Any help out here?

:wave:BeachSi02!! Here's one I made last Thanksgiving. I'd make it a couple of times before you enter any contest, and tweak it to your liking, but it turned out pretty freakin' delish!

Ok...here's the recipe I lifted off allrecipes.com

a few tips...........different from the recipe.
1. DO add sugar to apples--I'd say about 1/2 to 1 cup--give or take-depending on how sweet you like your pie.
2. DO add spices to apples
3. Pour the butter/sugar mixture VERY slowly over crust and down in between holes in lattice.
4. Place pie pan on parchment paper covered cookie sheet. You'll thank me later.

USMETRIC

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced

DIRECTIONS

  1. Melt butter in a sauce pan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add white sugar, brown sugar and water; bring to a boil. Reduce temperature, and simmer 5 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work of crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
  3. Bake 15 minutes at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes.

Honey, apple pie is a fall thing. :dunno:You need my peach pie recipe. I'm making it this weekend for Father' Day.

Big D's Favorite Pie (Which Happens To Be Peach)

When peach season arrives in late June, I always get requests for this pie. The pink interior of the peaches gives the pie a beautiful appearance.I hate to admit this as a Georgia native, but South Carolina peaches are infinitely better.

Pie dough of your choice
4 FRESH peaches
2 eggs
4 tablespoons flour (if peaches are extremely juicy, may need more to set the pie filling)
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup melted butter

Peel and halve peaches, and arrange in one layer (cut side up) in a pie pan lined with unbaked dough. (If the peaches are quite large, you might not need all eight peach halves). Combine eggs, flour, sugar, and butter. Pour around peaches. Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees, then reduce heat to 300 degrees and bake about 50 minutes longer

I guess it goes back to the saying that there's nothin' more American than Mom and Apple Pie and the contest is on July 4th.... However being in SC, maybe I can cheat and make the Peach Pie
