Behind that "For Sale" sign is a builder who is struggling to make ends meet. He most likely is a local full-time resident who supports local businesses and has his kids in the local schools. He has also employed many other local residents who are now also struggling financially.

Your above statement is not even remotely funny.

...not to mention that it is not possible to build an occupied house. You may be able to add on to an occupied house, but not build it. BTW, don't all houses just sit there? :dunno: Sure, there are "mobile" homes, but even those don't move around much and they are not classified as "houses."

--just stating the obvious

Very good points CCK and SJ. I know of several builders that are in some serious trouble right now. It is sad, especially for the ones who were not and have not taken advantage of the market/buyers. They are just good hard working people who are now facing bankruptcy. :sosad:

I notice that some of the vacant new homes near us appear to have been rented. How is the rental market (for long-term rentals) holding up? I see the ads in the Sun, and the prices seem healthy - is this the case?

I know of alot of builders that are furnishing and renting their spec homes. :sosad:
We have a rental house and have had it for years....We have never had a problem renting it but now we are. We dont even get calls on it. There is so much to choose from. When you say healthy do you mean expensive???
