Many of you know that our son went to camp in North Carolina since he was 8 years old (now he is a counselor at age 20!). Now our daughter has decided it is time to "get off the SoWal rock" this summer and spend at least a little bit of summer experiencing new things, making new friends, and gaining a little independence. Camps Mondamin and Green Cove are still taking applications for some sessions (I know the 5 week Green Cove session is full, 3 week still has a few openings). Our family can't say enough about the quality of both camps and the people who own and run them, not to mention the high quality programs (they are know for their paddling program especially- a great way for our quiet water paddling kids to experience moving water!). Both camps focus on "life sports"- you know, things we will do when we are adults- hiking, biking, paddling, swimming.

Please message me if you want more info on camp- and these websites are great- watch the videos!

"Both camps are bedrocks of tradition, professionally run and deeply committed. Their program, philosophy, and leadership are well founded and well tested over the years... Campers choose their own activities and learn to be responsible for themselves in a nurturing, noncompetitive atmosphere... this is a wonderfully devoted staff, most of whom have been campers here in their younger years... When it comes to real-life education, it's easy to see that these people really know what they are doing."
