Sarawind, I'll ask you as I've asked many people, what exactly was the President to do? I realize that he hasn't activated the Department of Oil Spills, but, oh that's right, we don't have one. Comparing this to Katrina is vastly different. I'll preface the following with the statement that I understand 11 people died on that oil platform and I feel for their friends and families. However, 3 days after the spill started I don't remember tens of thousands of people beginning to starve on national TV. The disconnect here is that we have a government agency designed to be activated at a moments notice to help people in an emergency. I think the proper question is why wasn't BP prepared? It's very telling that conservatives are suddenly concerned that the government isn't stepping in to deal with this. What happened to business doing it's own thing and not being bailed out?
