FFS. Too bad we can't vote for "None of These Candidates."

You can absolutely leave the ballot blank, but if only one is in the race they win by default. If nobody runs then the governor appoints someone.

His last appointment was Brad Drake.

I think a large part of the strategy of this website, and, if fact, most of MAGA politics in general, is to deposit such a heap of stinking crap into the political discourse that decent people just want to turn their heads and not vote.

It's working.

That's funny. Who the heck is John Walton?
In one of the post on Waltoncounty.org John Walton describes John Walton as a “Renowned local author.”
I personally know nothing about his renowned works.

BCC to take action regarding county seal, email addresses and
domain name for county government

Walton County – March 12, 2024 – At a recent meeting of the Walton
County Board of County Commissioners (BCC), District 4 Commissioner
Donna Johns suggested that an ordinance be drafted regarding the county’s
official seal. “Our county seal was approved many years ago, but they never
took the next step which would create an ordinance about it to make it our
county seal, that couldn’t be used frivolously all over, wherever. We would
be able to own the seal,” said Commissioner Johns.

Acting County Attorney Clay Adkinson explained that, under the law, to
protect the seal’s use, it must be adopted by ordinance, which was not done
when the seal was selected over 20 years ago. Adkinson said the legal
department would present a draft ordinance for BCC review that would
prohibit unauthorized use of the seal and would allow the board to adopt,
by resolution, the appropriate standards for the approved use of the seal.
“Once that ordinance is adopted, we will bring the resolution in the same
meeting,” said the Adkinson. “What you’ll see is a draft ordinance at your
next meeting. Assuming that meets with your approval, we will request to
advertise for a public hearing for adoption.”

Commissioner Johns motioned to proceed with the process and the motion
passed unanimously.

Next, Commissioner Johns suggested that the email addresses and domain
name for the county website be changed to something less cumbersome
than what is currently in use. She described having recently attended
several technology programs in Washington D.C., “And I was told that all
counties should be ‘.gov.’ It’s just professional. It’s streamlined, people
know that it’s government.” Walton County has been using ‘co.walton.fl.us.’
Johns also suggested that the current style of creating staff email addresses
could also be modified for clarity. Information Technology Director Jed
Sconiers explained that they can fashion new staff email addresses, but
everyone will also continue to receive mail under the old addresses, and the

county will retain ownership of the old domain even after a new one is
established.

Walton Technology Manager Jason Cook explained that having a ‘.gov’
domain helps the public identify official government information. He said
governments should seek a domain name that is unique and specific to the
county, and it takes about 20 business days to get an official ruling.
This prompted discussion by BCC members on the various options.

Commissioner Johns suggested they not drag out the process but move
with haste while various options are still available. Commissioner Danny
Glidewell inquired about the possibility of using ‘MyWaltonCounty.gov’ to
mirror Florida’s current ‘MyFlorida.gov.’ Additional ideas were put forward
and discussed.

In the end, Commissioner Johns motioned, seconded by Commissioner
Glidewell, to appoint Jason Cook as the designee to apply for a new website
and email address domain (mywaltonfl.gov), and to have staff verify and
authenticate all county social media accounts. The motion passed
unanimously.
