As an Independent voter who registers as a Republican so I can participate, I would agree that both our current Governor Scott and former Governor Crist may not be our best choice but IMO are the only 2 viable candidates. I know some will have issues with lesser of 2 evil voters. In the end it is about voting our agendas.

As a fiscal conservative and social liberal, I will never truly find a "great" candidate. I just wish we had a better choice. Both candidates are despicable. My vote will go to Wyllie. Wyllie is up to 13% in one poll. I think that shows a lot of people feel the same disgust I do.

"Not so fast" as Lee Corso might say. According to the article the Florida Constitution requires that he list his assets. Then the blind trust itself should be listed, not its contents. If it's a blind trust, the politician is not beholden to those unknown companies and can't use his office to benefit them. If he doesn't know what's in it, why do we need to? If the contents were public, it wouldn't be a blind trust anymore, and the politician might be tempted to favor those investments over yours. Do you want to criticize the trustee's investment decisions that the beneficiary didn't know about?
"The Florida Constitution requires elected officials every year to make a “full and public disclosure” of their assets and liabilities “in excess of $1,000” so that the public can monitor any potential conflicts of interest." Tampabay.com
These tidbits of information can be gleaned when you read the article. When you as a politician hide and fight to keep your non government email accounts secret, you secretly negotiate with businesses tax breaks, and then don't want to list your assets in your blind trust, maybe you are enriching yourself. Unfortunately he does seem to have a history of hiding things in my opinion.

Wyllie should throw enough gunk in the works to keep the polls swinging wildly until it all hashes out.
Interestingly enough old folks generally vote in non-presidential elections and the attack ads are squarely centered on them.

I am more than willing to abide by what the judge says.

I guess it depends on what your definition of is, is.

JP I think my issue was the way you referred to the President. I am fine with your dislike of him, I don't like Gov. Scott or Rep Gaetz and I will post it. But I don't make it a habit to name calling which you and a few others are in a habit of doing. Whether I like them or not, they are our elected officials.
Are you OK with others who dislike Republicans calling them names? If you watch MSNBC, I'm sure you've head worse names than what JP posted about Obama.

Yes, those poor, starving Dems. What a hoot.
Scott is a scumbag. Crist is a sleazebag. Yeah for choice.
The race for Florida governor remains a toss up as voters grapple with which candidate they dislike least, said a new poll released Wednesday. The Survey USA poll showed Democrat Charlie Crist with a 2-point lead over incumbent Republican Gov. Rick Scott, but both candidates are losing the favorability race.
Mr. Crist, a former Republican governor who turned Democrat, had a net favorability of minus 8. Mr. Scott scored a net favorability of minus 10, according to the poll, which was conducted for WFLA-TV in Tampa.
Scumbag? Sleazebag? Better be careful about calling elected officials names. The good taste police may ticket you.

Of course there's also the Libertarian Party candidate. Who knows, maybe something weird will happen like it did in Georgia years ago. Surely we'd get somebody better than Lester Maddox.

Who does Gov. Scott think he is, King Barack Hussein?
I understand that Gwyneth Paltrow would like to crown the Prez.

Is Paltrow the twit who wants to give President Obama unlimited power?

One and the same. All looks no brain.

Seriously? The discord has sunk so low people are quoting Gwyneth Paltrow? Shake it off and get back to sharing thoughts that have even a small bit of value to anyone. Ms. Paltrow's views do not.

No I am not and find it just as offensive no matter who it is. As I said, I may dislike them but will refer to them by their title.

Yes, Bob Wells, I agree completely. Its kind of like mention God without capitalizing the name.

I was down at Disney a week ago for a ten mile race. After watching local TV, I have to admit you Floridians are in quite a pickle. Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.
I must admit that I was tickled by the Crist ads (not choosing affiliation here...just funny)...
"I'm a Democrat"
"I'm a Republican"
"I'm a Libertarian""
"I'm pro choice"
"I'm pro life"
"I support Obama"
"I don't support Obama"
I know one thing. I'd be confused as all get out if I lived in FL!

Vote for Charlie Crist and watck Florida take another nosedive! I suggest you look at Scott's record as governor which beats Crist's by a mile. This is the last I will say about the upcoming election. I hope Scott win. Regardless of his supposed past, he has the state on the right track.Yeah, Hitler got Nazi Germany's economy running. Supposed past?
SoWal Insider
You guys comparing Christ to Scott is like comparing a shoplifter to a murderer.
SoWal Insider
Andy, there is no "supposed past". He was the CEO of Columbia Health, which was convicted of the biggest Medicare fraud case in history and was fined the largest fine in history for that fraud, which happened during his time as CEO. Is that clear enough?
When asked about the case, he took the fifth amendment 79 times. Facts are a *****.

I can't imagine anyone comparing Christ to Scott.
Oh yeah, hyperbole much?

The whole first part is true. And I'd go further to say that if the CEO says he knew nothing about it, he's full of s***!
However, since you claim to use facts, you are wrong. Scott did take the 5th 75 times, but in a totally separate case involving a civil suit. Since it happened while the federal fraud case was still going on, Scott's attorney told him not to answer questions about the federal fraud case.
So, to summarize, you are correct that Scott most certainly stinks, just not purely for the reasons you listed.

I think I answered the question as to whether he has a "supposed past". And I believe the civil suit was related to the Medicare fraud. If I'm incorrect, then it looks like his past is more sordid than I thought. Does Crist's "crimes" rise to the level of largest Medicare fraud in history? Hardly.

You can't claim the moral high ground when you're making stuff up. Either use actual "facts" or quit telling people you are. You are 0-2 in your last 2 posts. As far as I can tell, Scott has never been convicted of a crime, nor has Crist.
The civil suit was not in connection to the federal fraud. Had you actually looked at, and read, the link, you'd have known that. I'm trying to help you stop digging this hole, but you are certainly determined. Don't suppose, let Google help you learn actual "facts":
Scott's deposition, however, was not part of the criminal fraud case being pursued by the federal government. In fact, Scott was never officially questioned during the federal criminal investigation. Instead, the case in question was a civil case involving Columbia/HCA and Nevada Communications Corp. Nevada Communications alleged that Columbia/HCA breached the terms of a communications contract.

You need to read a little better. I said I thought it was connected, and I was incorrect. My moral fiber isn't what we are talking about. The article you quoted said Scott's company was involved in several lawsuits during that period. Don't you think that is a little more relevant than my mistake. The issue is whether Scott is a crook, and it sure seems like he is. The fact that his company paid the highest fine in Medicare fraud history pretty well sums it up for me. Again, how does that compare with Crist's record?
