Optimism Boosts Florida Housing Market
In January, Lee County, Florida, which includes Cape Coral, registered a 43% increase in home sales compared to a year earlier. (And, sales were up over 70% in one office.) In a state hit early by the economic downturn, there is hope it will be on the leading edge of a recovery -- and the rise in real estate activity provides evidence to support the optimism. Waiting on your counter point
Is "Now is a great time to buy"??

Counterpoint is:

"Here's a look at the newly released housing numbers for Lee County.

936 homes were sold in February, an increase of 101.7% from the same time last year. So far this year 66% of the homes sold were foreclosures., 14% were short sales, and only 19% were traditional home sales.

The median price for homes sold through traditional sales is $196,000, well over bargain foreclosure sales. Their median price is just $73,000."

The article quoted in the thread interviewed some wonk from REMAX. Realtors are always "optimistic" so "NOW <it's always "now"> is a great time to buy"...they're making commissions when people are buying--it's not rocket science, Skippy.
