I'm looking for a good one. I was spoiled by my father, who was a careful and detail oriented optometrist.

Location - SoWal, PC, or Destin. Won't rule out FWB or Defuniak.
In private practice - I won't see the Dr. on staff at the "glasses store"
Staying power - Been here at least 5-10 years, but not near retirement
Good with both glasses and contacts

Tree Frog, can't help with an optometrist, but if you need an ophthamologist I can recommend the best. Dr. Priscilla Fowler,
Destin Ophthamology with office in the Bank Building next to Sacred Heart Hospital.

Hopefully no one will need to find her as I did: An Emergency. But, she is the best. I have not seen a MD of any speciality in a very long time who has the kind of "bedside manner" as Dr. Fowler. She was so concerned with my well being and vision. Saw me immediately on referral from my family doc; saw me every day for a week; told me where she would be on the weekend and how she could reached via her cell phone in case I needed her again!

She is the best and TG my vision is unaffected by the problem and my eye is much better due to her excellent care.

She is the kind of medical professional that we all wish we had every time we need care.

GW58 - Thanks for the recommendation, but I've already got a pair of superb specialist opthalmologists, working on a condition I inherited.

Just need someone good to see for glasses and contacts.

The Eye Center of North Florida, Hwy 77 North, Panama City. There are several doctors there; my son sees Dr. Anthony Aker.

Dr. Jim Corry at the Eye Center is also wonderful, but he has been out of the office for a period of time (I've had to change my annual eye exam three times) and I fear he may retire soon. It would be well deserved, but I've been going to him since I was twelve years old.

Anywho, phone number is (850) 784-3937. Take someone with you, as they WILL dilate your eyes

Thanks for the recommendation. I do hate the dilation, maybe I can get them to skip it since I'm getting all that and more regularly at the opthalmologists.
