Pet Peeves--New and Improved for 2010

I looked back and it's been like two whole years since we've mentioned our pet peeves. I was too lazy to read the other threads, so I don't know if I've mentioned this, but it's one that just drives me nutz.

Spray bottles (cleaners, etc) that stop spraying when there's still about two freakin' inches of cleaner in the bottle. That little pump tube thing is too short to reach the bottom. I know they do this on purpose, so you'll buy more, but oh man, it makes me cuss so much every time. :pissed::pissed::pissed::pissed::pissed:

I agree. I went to Publix yesterday. I was gone so long that I got a call from Big D asking if I was okay or was I having problems finding everything on my list. Heck, I was talking to Wayne, the produce manager. Then another professor rolled through and joined the conversation. Then I saw one of the hosts for the engagement party, and we yapped for a while. Then Albert took out my groceries, and we talked about the weather and the Georgia Tech loss.

those publix employees have spoiled me rotten. and I love it. there were times in the past when I really did need assistance getting groceries to the car (on crutches, or with infant, or both) - they totally went out of their way for me. and I still let them.

The commercials with the little kids and the fake pony vs the real pony. And the little girl with the bicycle.

I guess they are effective, but they just ruin your whole evening.

If the phone rings and noone answers, leave a message FTLOC, don't just call again 3 minutes later!

Yes, some people DO have better things to do than drop everything to take your call OR the manners to not talk while at the counter, in the bathroom, etc.!

Scooty, I always take your calls when I'm in the, well, never-mind.....:biggrin:

I try real hard to walk in other peoples shoes everyday, so, I really only have a few thing that bother me almost enough to do something about them.

1. Sir or madam, with your walkie-talkie cell phone thingie, please turn the push button noise off and turn your speaker off too, while you're at it. I don't need to know what your ex said the doctor told them you gave them in the cat food aisle of Walmart.

2. That's a shirt, not a dress. This is a grocery story, put some pants on, or pull up the ones your wearing. You look stupid and naked, not a good look for anyone.

3. Driving 55 miles an hour and someone pulls out in front of you (while you slam on brakes ) just to make the next turn, 20 feet down the street, instead of letting you pass and then pulling out. Thanks for almost killing us both, you impatient, premature, puller-outer. You should be stuck all day in a Mini storage unit with phone beep/nothings personal guy and the butt crack kid.

4. Rude, impatient people. I have defended clerks while standing in-line. They had two hands each and were doing the best that they could. Heaven and earth are not going to move any faster because you are making exasperated breathing noises behind me. In fact, you need to move to another lane, now.

People who talk too loudly on cell phones/ear dohickies get to have me comment on their conversation or pretend to have my own loud random conversation! The best is when they get all mad and say "this is a private conversation" .................. and I get to say "then why are you having it where we can all hear you?"

Non-responsive colleagues or business alliances. #1 Pet Peeve.....I really don't have any others. Maybe depends on the day, however.

Is parking between the lines a lost skill?

depends on the level of sobriety or mental acuity at the moment of parking (i.e., cellphone use, chatting with passenger friend/self/pet, grooving on a mind-gripping song, mirror-check of self, blondness--just kidding!--etc.).......

When people run over my roadkill. I'm minding my own business, hanging out in the middle of the road, eating and whutaya know someone comes along and makes me hop, sometimes fly out of their way. Then they run right over it. I would love to do this :moon: as they drive by, but....well....I exactly can't. BUT if i see dead fish :yikes:......BINGO, it's on! Come to DADDY......dinner time!:dothewave:

Ironically, ours is currently a world of "you get what you ask for/take" much more so than "you get what you earn/deserve"......a world of smoke and mirrors. Those series of commercials put that concept in visual form.

The worst day in SOWAL is better than the best day in so many places world-wide......that we make a list of our petty grievances is a slap in the face of sensibility and selflessness.

Ehh...so what if we make a list of our petty little peeves and grievances. We all have them. Can't deny that. What you say about SoWal is true, but what better place to be able to vent? It's the lounge FTLOG.

hey happy - do you have a grievance with SoWal friends sharing, playing and discussing things that get under our skin? we can live with that. at least you participated and stated your grievance. its cool.

.. eat, pray, love, dance, laugh, live, smoke, drink, cuss and talk with friends about all kinds of stuff. its what we do here in the lounge.

It makes me crazy when people hang articles of clothing on furniture. Isn't this why we have hangers, hooks and closets? UGH!
