As a rental property owner (and someone who loves the area and will be spending a LOT more time there in about 8 years when the children are grown up), what is the general feeling about promoting 30A as a winter getaway? Is this something the area would invite? Resist? I assume it would be good for the local businesses and, at the same time, would change one of the most peaceful times of the year for locals and others who come to 30A to get away from busier parts of the world.

Is anything being done to promote the area in the winter? Does anyone have any advice for property owners who want to find winter renters for their rental property?

Is there a website or place that retirees go to to find nice and warm places to rent in the winter?

Thanks much,
Paula

They could tell you how to contact snowbirds. Right now, Snowbirds are propbably a good group to rent, and not all of them make that chirping sound, "cheap, cheap, cheap."

The TDC has a program called "Autumn Tides" - which is a series of events, in conjunction with marketing.

We do get more snowbirds every year. They look for cheap(er) monthly rentals usually. And many rental owners are happy to get some income in the winter.

While kids are in school, families only make appearances for weekends, especially long weekends, and some come down for a week over christmas break.

Thanks for snowbird info

Thanks, Kurt. I'll follow-up. I like to try to blend my own rental strategy with preferences/sensitivities of people who live in the area, as well as environmental and other concerns.

By the way, what does "avatar" mean and why do I get "beach crab"? Has anyone on the list spoken with my family or something? Hmmmm...

I like "eternal optimist" much better...

And how do I update my member profile?

Thanks,
Paula

Well you're a "beach tourist" now. That is your rank and depends on your post count.

Avatar is the graphic under your name. Click on "profile" link at top of page to change settings.
