does anyone know what happened with the power last night? Ours was out for almost five hours. We have never lost power (except for a few minutes) in my neighborhood--even during hurricanes--in the 10 years I have lived here. That storm did not seem that severe--

Yep, went off here right at sunset and was off for at least 3-4 hours. Then they teased us and it came back on for about 30 minutes. Off again until midnight at least. Took a LOT of beer for me to 'go to sleep'. I don't know when it came back on.

I was driving home last night from Destin and the storm was starting to get bad. There was one bolt of lightning that appeared to be a direct hit of something in our area. Few minutes later when I got to 98 and 30a the traffic lights were out and there was a blackout on the west end of 30a until I got t. Tom Thumb. Rambling.

I suspect a lightning strike hit something that caused a safety to kick in for one zone of the local grid. Now I'm not an electrician. But I did stay at a holiday inn express!

Apparently lightening struck a transformer on 98 and knocked out the regulators which shut down an entire line...then, some kind of explosion occurred....

A, that's just what I was thinking last night--as the only light I could see anywhere (except for my candles and flashlight) were my little solar lights alongside my entryway....where can I find a solar a/c?:dunno:
