Last night I was pondering something and suddenly came upon a way to solve the economic woes of our country while being environmentally friendly at the same time.

What is this daring plan?

Stop including instructions of any kind with anything. Sounds like it won't work?

Okay, everything and anything comes with instructions. Whether it be a simple one page xeroxed instruction page to put together a spice rack or a multi volume user manual for a computer. They all require paper and in my experience no one ever refers to them. So, save the trees and stop distributing them. This will lead to more calls to the company, more calls means more employees, and larger call centers.

I liked the part about saving the trees, but do we really need more people calling more people on more telephones. Can't we all just tweet to a happier society?

Well, that idea would make a lot of lawyers happy!

Don't know how many tree it would save though - I think the number of pages of instructions pales in comparison to the phone books I get, which pales in comparison to the amount of junk mail I get (even after years of trying to remove myself from mailing lists and go paperless with bills).

A "do not mail" list and streamlining credit card and insurance agreements would save alot more trees.

I think we could also save 4 zillion trees if someone could make the process of loan closing and home buying paperless. I know you are all laughing at that idea!

I just bundled a loan and they made one mistake (put in FQ's name, but left my name off) and they had to RE-copy 100 pages all over again--what a freaking waste of paper!

Not really, some local companies have already started pulling the jobs back from India and are going to stop using over seas call centers.
